Sommario/riassunto: In their time, the work of the Flemish writers Rosalie (1834-1875) and Virginie (1836-1923) Loveling could already count on the great appreciation of critics such as E.J. Potgieter and J. ten Brink. But only now is it clear how progressive these sisters' views were. Not only did they write poignant stories in which they depict contemporary reality in a 'realistic', sober and controlled manner, but they also expressly took advanced positions on intellectual, philosophical and social issues. As a woman, they claimed the right to study and write.
