The Committee on Military Affairs have had under consideration the memorial and joint resolutions of the Corporation of the City of Washington relative to a railroad from the waters of the Chesapeake to Washington and thence, by the way of the Point of Rocks, to Hagerstown ; also a connecting link of road between Cumberland and Connellsville -- this latter forming with the first-named roads and the intermediate road a line which shortens the distance between the capital and Pittsburg, as well as to all points west, one hundred and ten miles, as shown by accompanying map .
