Sommario/riassunto: | Giovanni Antonio Canal, also known as Canaletto (1697-1768) was initiated to painting and perspective by his father who was himself a painter. While art lovers of his time brought back from their travels his paintings as the proofs of their travels in Italy, Canaletto became the true incarnation of the Serenissima. Through his technique of combining different perspectives, he was a true precursor as he filled his canvases with numerous details to evaluate the distances and used the optical chamber in the framing of his painting. |
