By His Grace the Duke of Norfolke, Earl-Marshal of England [[electronic resource] ] : In pursuance of an order of the Lords of His Majesties most honourable Privy-Council at Whitehal, the third day of January, 1694. These are to give notice that it will be allowed as full and proper mourning to wear hatbands of black English alamode, covered with black crape : in consideration of the great incouragement it will be to the English manufacture of lute-string, and alamode and the relief which many thousands of poor-people employed in the said manufacture will receive by it / / Norfolke and Marshall
