Sommario/riassunto: This book addresses national development and academic citizenship in higher education in Africa. For some, the concept of academic citizenship refers to the legitimate practice of academics working within Higher Education. To others, it suggests roles that are beyond the boundaries of academic institutions. There is a dearth of research on academic citizenship in relation to Africa. This edited volume contributes to a better understanding of the role of higher education in national development by presenting case studies and perspectives from a wide range of stakeholders, educators, and researchers in the African context. Chux Gervase Iwu is Professor and Chair in Entrepreneurship in Higher Education at the University of the Western Cape, South Africa. He has a multidisciplinary background that encompasses degrees in Library Studies, Industrial and Organisational Psychology, Human Resources Management, and an Advanced Diploma in Management. Iwu researches the broad area of socioeconomic issues in emerging economies.
