Mendel states in the preface: 'The ever-increasing importance of the anatomy of the brain, to physiology and pathology as well as to the treatment of cerebral diseases, renders it all the more necessary to have good illustrations of the brain surface and of sections through it. [The plates published here] should suffice to serve all practical purposes; and the annexed diagram of the course of the nerve-fibres seems specially well adapted for easy localisation. ...' |
