| Sommario/riassunto: | Less than five hours after the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor, U.S. naval leaders reluctantly chose to pursue a form of warfare they despised-targeting not only Japanese military assets but also civilian-operated fishing trawlers, freighters, and tankers.
