Sommario/riassunto: | This is the first examination of the impact of technological developments on ancient Greek cities. Drawing on material from many disciplines, the author examines water system elements as they relate to each other and to the physical, historical, and social bases of ancient Greek cities. She concludes that increased knowledge and skill in management of water contributed directly to the urbanization of the ancient Greek world. |
