• Sommario/riassunto: The data herein presented on the compositions and properties of the corrosion-resisting and heat-resisting chromium and chromium-nickel steels have been assembled by Subcommittee I on Classification of Data, of Committee A-10 on Iron-Chromium, Iron-Chromium-Nickel, and Related Alloys, of the American Society for Testing Materials. The data in this publication represent a revision of corresponding data given in the "Symposium on Corrosion-Resistant, Heat-Resistant, and Electrical-Resistance Alloys," held in 1924, and the "Tables of Chemical Compositions, Physical and Mechanical Properties, and Corrosion-Resistant Properties of Corrosion-Resistant and Heat-Resistant Alloys," published by the A.S.T.M. in 1930. In these earlier publications data were presented on a broad range of materials which included both ferrous and non-ferrous alloys, as well as the stainless steels. Because of the tremendous increase in the commercial importance of the stainless steels during recent years, it was decided that their properties should be tabulated in a separate publication.
