Sommario/riassunto: This book is written by prominent academics and practitioners, exploring problems and opportunities of growth in different aspects of sustainable development. The overarching themes running throughout the book are energy access, policy, climate change, human development and resource allocation in the context of India. The book will benefit policymakers and researchers with its inclusion of new evidence and solutions to meet developmental challenges. Dr Piyush Tiwari is a Professor of Property at University of Melbourne, Australia. Prior to his current position he was Director Policy at Infrastructure Development Finance Company (IDFC), India. He has held positions at the University of Aberdeen, UK, HDFC, India and the University of Tsukuba, Japan. His research interests include housing economics and mortgages, commercial real estate investment and valuation, land economics and financing infrastructure in developing countries. He is Member, International Land Measurement Standards Committee which is engaged in writing standards for land measurement. Professor Kirit Parikh is currently the Chairman of Integrated Research and Action for Development, New Delhi. He was formerly Member, Planning Commission, Government of India Chairman, and Founder-Director (Vice Chancellor), Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research (IGIDR), Mumbai – An Advanced Research Institute. He was honoured with Padma Bushan by the President of India in March 2009. He was also the Chairman of the Integrated Energy Policy Committee, Planning Commission, and a Member of the Economic Advisory Council (EAC) of the Prime Ministers of India, Atal Behari Vajpayee, P.V. Narasimha Rao, Chandra Shekhar, V.P.Singh and Rajiv Gandhi. In the past he had also been a member of the National Committee for Environmental Planning & Co-ordination, the National Committee on Science and Technology, and the Fuel Policy Committee.
