Sommario/riassunto: This volume describes German-French relations in the second half of the 1920s, when a certain rapprochement became apparent between the two countries, which was reflected in the Locarno Treaties, the award of the Nobel Peace Prize to German Foreign Minister Gustav Stresemann and his French colleague Aristide Briand culminated in 1926, the Franco-German trade treaty of 1927 and finally the War Pact of 1928. The study examines the relations between the countries not only under the prevailing interpretation patterns of German revisionism and French security strivings, but also analyses to what extent "modern" foreign policy concepts have influenced the relationship between the two countries. "Modern" is understood as the revolution in international law initiated by American President Woodrow Wilson, which should rest on the pillars of democracy, collective security and free trade. The first overall presentation of Franco-German relations in the détente phase of the 1920s
