Sommario/riassunto: Performance measurements are ongoing during the life of each release of DB2 for OS/390. DB2 for z/OS and OS/390 Version 7 (DB2 V7 throughout this document) has introduced several enhancements in the areas of performance and availability, and other enhancements are currently being added. Most of these enhancements and the related performance measurements implemented in the Silicon Valley Laboratory have been documented in the IBM Redbooks publication DB2 for z/OS and OS/390 Version 7 Performance Topics, SG24-6129. However, information on new DB2 functions and their synergy with the evolving zSeries platform is of great value for strategic investments, and more performance measurements are under way. Currently these measurements have included topics such as FICON, Java support, CICS interface, and DB2 OLAP Server. This book is meant to provide an update on the new measurements that have been implemented, and to point out the performance related maintenance that has been shipped after general availability of DB2 for z/OS Version 7. The information here contained is intended to help managers and professionals understand and evaluate the applicability to their environment of these recent functions of DB2 V7. This book replaces the IBM Redpaper that was made available in February 2002, with the same title, and provides more up-to-date information.
