Sommario/riassunto: | It is our great pleasure to welcome you to the 23rd ACM Symposium on Access Control Models and Technologies (SACMAT 2018) taking place in Indianapolis, IN, USA on June 13 - 15, 2018. The SACMAT symposium series is the premier forum for presentation of research results and experience reports on leading edge issues of access control in terms of models, systems, applications, and theory. The symposium aims to share novel access control solutions that fulfill the needs of heterogeneous applications and environments, and to identify new directions for future research and development. The call for papers attracted about 30 submissions from a variety of countries around the world. Submissions were anonymous, and each paper has been reviewed by at least three reviewers who are experts in the field. Extensive online discussions took place to make the selections for the symposium. The program committee finally accepted 12 papers as full papers and 4 papers as short ones for presentation at the symposium. The topics covered include access control in IoT, access control policy analysis and enforcement, and privacy issues in social networks. Besides the regular research track, this year SACMAT introduced a special track, named "Blue Sky Vision", led by Elena Ferrari (University of Insubria). This track invited researchers to share promising new ideas and challenges of interest to the community which can shape the research agenda for the next 10 years. We will be hosting two Blue Sky sessions where 6 groups of researchers will present their visions. We hope to expand this track in the next editions of SACMAT. The program is complemented by poster and demonstrations sessions, and by a panel discussion. We are also very proud to present as part of the program three exciting keynote talks by Daphne Yao (Virginia Tech), Dan Thomsen (Smart Information Flow Technologies), Omar Haider Chowdhury (the University of Iowa). We have started this year the test-of-time award for the paper published in SACMAT 10 years ago that has had the most impact. The paper selected this year was "ROWLBAC: representing role based access control in OWL" co-authored by T. Finin, A. Joshi, L. Kagal, J. Niu, R. Sandhu, W. Winsborough, and B. Thuraisingham. |
