• Type File/ Data Note: Breathable polyester cushion substitute for urethane foam that uses a hollow yarn to reduce weight. Its compression recovery and durability is as high as that of urethane, making it suitable for cushion materials. The material is a 100% polyester elastomer (Pelprene) with a three-dimensional spring structure offering high elasticity, air permeability (with a void fraction of 95%) for breathability, and fast drying properties. It is recyclable and unlike urethane, which generates toxic cyanogen gas when burned, it has very low toxic gas generation. It is lightweight, providing power savings during vehicle operation. The material is manufactured as a flat sheet 0.3 - 1.4 m (11.8 - 55.1in) wide, 0.3 - 2.1 m (11.8 - 82.6 in) long, with a density ranging from 30 - 150 kg/m3 (1.87- 9.36 lbs/ft3); thickness 15-100 mm (0.59 - 3.93 in). Available colors are clear, white and black. It is sold as is, with currently no options for customization. The material has two fire ratings; EU: B-s1, d0 for the EU and in the US, ASTM E 84-10 Class B (Class A on concrete, B on drywall). Applications include mats, pillows, mattresses, seat cushions for trains and buses, and sports protection.
