The Europeanization of law in the European Union leads to profound changes in the legal systems of its member states. It poses particular difficulties for the countries of Central and Eastern Europe, which have only recently joined the European Union. This volume deals with the effects of Europeanization on the German and Hungarian legal systems from a legal historical, civil law and public law perspective and thereby allows them to be vividly highlighted in their diversity. The focus of the 18 contributions is on legal history, general civil law, company law, intellectual property, civil and administrative procedural law, and also discuss the problem of non-discrimination and finally the concept of sovereignty. The volume brings together the lectures of the German-Hungarian Colloquium of the Law Faculties of the University of Göttingen and the Eötvös Loránd University of Budapest on the Europeanization of Law, which took place in Budapest in October 2007. This joint colloquium is the latest fruit of the longstanding cooperation between the two faculties in research and teaching.
