The strong relationship between people?s wellbeing, physical environment and student learning in schools has already been extensively studied in international research. At the same time, a number of different scenarios of possible innovations are now emerging, and these require conscious choices in terms of designing both the ways and the places where educational processes can be developed. The principal focus of this research was the relationship between infrastructure, activities, and school communities. The book is divided into three sections, the first of which discusses conceptual aspects and outlines innovative renewal strategies. The second section describes a participatory research process developed in five case studies of lower-secondary or middle schools with the aim of updating our knowledge about such schools and identifying emerging issues. The last section presents case studies, operational tools, and design strategies that aid decision-making and support interventions to renew school facilities. The book is intended mainly for scholars of architecture and education, but is also of interest to a wider readership, including principals, teachers, designers, decision-makers in school communities, and heads of municipal education departments. 410 0$aResearch for Development,$x2198-7300 606 $aSustainable architecture 606 $aSchools 606 $aSocial service 606 $aBuildings 606 $aKnowledge management 606 $aBuildings?Design and construction 606 $aBuilding 606 $aConstruction 606 $aEngineering, Architectural 606 $aSustainable Architecture/Green Buildings$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/122000 606 $aSchools and Schooling$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/O52000 606 $aSocial Work and Community Development$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/X33080 606 $aBuilding Types and Functions$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/K13004 606 $aKnowledge Management$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/515030 606 $aBuilding Construction and Design$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/T23012 615 0$aSustainable architecture. 615 0$aSchools. 615 0$aSocial service. 615 0$aBuildings. 615 0$aKnowledge management. 615 0$aBuildings?Design and construction. 615 0$aBuilding. 615 0$aConstruction. 615 0$aEngineering, Architectural. 615 14$aSustainable Architecture/Green Buildings. 615 24$aSchools and Schooling. 615 24$aSocial Work and Community Development. 615 24$aBuilding Types and Functions. 615 24$aKnowledge Management. 615 24$aBuilding Construction and Design. 676 $a720.47 676 $a371.9045 702 $aFianchini$b Maria$4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910367235803321 996 $aRenewing Middle School Facilities$92034036 997 $aUNINA
