The amount of loss resulting from these events is also increasing exponentially, particularly in highly urbanised urban areas, where the effects of intensive land use and climate change are particularly extreme?all despite that our scientific knowledge, technical competence, and computational capacity to develop highly sophisticated and accurate forecasting and simulation models are higher than ever, as is our capacity to map and analyse flood-related data. In order to tackle this global issue, it is fundamental to keep on promoting and developing fundamental and applied research that allows the better targeting of interventions to improve resilience, reduce vulnerability, and enhance recovery as well as assisting decision-makers in delivering more effective flood risk-reduction policies. This book aims to contribute to this goal by providing a space in which to share and discuss recent studies and state-of- the-art methodologies focused on the assessment and mitigation of flood risk in urban areas. It includes nine high-quality chapters authored by eminent scholars who had the tremendous generosity to join me in this editorial project. The range of topics covered by these nine studies is extraordinarily vast, reflecting the complexity of the current challenges associated with the topic. 606 $aHistory of engineering & technology$2bicssc 610 $aintegrated operation 610 $aurban stream 610 $aurban drainage facility 610 $arevised resilience index 610 $aflood 610 $a3Di 610 $aloss assessment 610 $aanalytic hierarchy process (AHP) 610 $arisk map 610 $aclimate change 610 $aurban flood risk 610 $aflood damage 610 $aurban disaster 610 $aland use 610 $aflood risk susceptibility 610 $aFRS-GWR modeling 610 $abuilt-up growth prediction 610 $aThailand 610 $aLight Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) 610 $aHEC-RAS 610 $a2D modeling 610 $aflood hazard 610 $aurban and peri-urban area 610 $aflood risk assessment 610 $aflood evacuation 610 $aevacuation modelling 610 $abehavioral design 610 $aurban built environment at risk 610 $ahuman motion in floodwaters 610 $aremote sensing 610 $aflood extent mapping 610 $aCan Tho City 610 $aGoogle Earth engine 610 $auncertainty 610 $asupport vector machine regression (SVR) 610 $aurban flood 610 $arisk management 610 $aHistoric City Centre of Guimara?es 610 $apluvial flood 610 $aindirect impacts 610 $arisk assessment 610 $agraph analysis 610 $aflood mitigation 610 $aMexico City 615 7$aHistory of engineering & technology 700 $aFerreira$b Tiago Miguel$4edt$01295535 702 $aFerreira$b Tiago Miguel$4oth 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910557403503321 996 $aRecent Advances in the Assessment of Flood Risk in Urban Areas$93023590 997 $aUNINA LEADER 02883nam 2200469 450 001 9910794660703321 005 20230630003243.0 010 $a90-04-46290-2$bebook 010 $a978-90-04-46290-8$bebook 010 $a90-04-46289-9$bhardback 010 $a978-90-04-46289-2$bhardback 024 7 $a10.1163/9789004462908 035 $a(CKB)4100000011950931 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC6636615 035 $a(Au-PeEL)EBL6636615 035 $a(OCoLC)1256242779 035 $a(EXLCZ)994100000011950931 100 $a20220125d2021 uy 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aurcnu|||||||| 181 $ctxt$2rdacontent 182 $cc$2rdamedia 183 $acr$2rdacarrier 200 10$a"Soft law" in international commercial arbitration /$fFelix Dasser 210 1$aLeiden, Netherlands ;$aBoston, Massachusetts :$cBrill Nijhoff,$d[2021] 210 4$d©2021 215 $a304 pages 225 0 $aThe Pocket Books of The Hague Academy of International Law / Les livres de poche de l'Académie de droit international de La Haye ;$v44 320 $aIncludes bibliographical references. 330 3 $a?Soft law? is a current buzzword and considered a panacea for all kinds of issues that arise in international commercial arbitration. Very little research has, however, been done on the dogmatic underpinnings of the concept and its actual legal relevance. This course follows the development of the so-called ?soft law? from its origins in public international law to commercial arbitration, where it is used today as a label for various instruments and phenomena, covering both procedural aspects and the applicable substantive law: model laws, arbitration rules, guidelines, the UNIDROIT Principles, the lex mercatoria, and others. It presents three particularly well-known sets of guidelines by the International Bar Association and discusses the pros and cons of ?soft law? instruments and their potential normativity. The analysis suggests that ?soft law? instruments are typically less well recognised in practice than is generally assumed. The author explains what such instruments can achieve and what minimum requirements they have to fulfil to at least aspire to some legitimacy. He argues ultimately that ?soft law? instruments can be very useful tools, but they do not carry any normativity. -- Publisher. 410 4$aThe Pocket Books of The Hague Academy of International Law / Les livres de poche de l'Académie de droit international de La Haye ;$v44 606 $aInternational commercial arbitration 615 0$aInternational commercial arbitration. 676 $a346.092 700 $aDasser$b Felix$0231737 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910794660703321 996 $a"Soft law" in international commercial arbitration$93721262 997 $aUNINA LEADER 01541nam2 2200337 i 450 001 VAN0020916 005 20230724115352.611 100 $a20040727d1995 |0itac50 ba 101 $aita 102 $aIT 105 $a|||| ||||| 200 1 $aˆ2: ‰Elettricità, magnetismo, ottica$fPaul A.
