Divided into two parts, the book first defines transcultural memory in the age of globalised modernity both as a theory and social practice. Then it examines contemporary Indo-English novels from India and Pakistan with the theoretical and methodological tool of transcultural memory to shed new light on the connection between memory and modernity, and memory and South Asian cultures in the wake of new social and political transformations on the Indian subcontinent. A special focus on commemorative tropes in the novels not only show the possibility of a dialogue with different versions of the past, but also how such a dialogue shapes processes of remembrance between and beyond borders. Hence, the books comes up with alternative ways of reading the Indo-English novels, divesting the concept of (trans)cultural memory from its Euro- centrism and claiming it as equally significant in comprehending the new configurations of memory and modernity in non-Western locations. 410 0$aMedia and cultural memory ;$vVolume 20. 606 $aGlobalization in literature 606 $aCollective memory in literature 606 $aIndic literature (English)$xHistory and criticism 608 $aElectronic books. 615 0$aGlobalization in literature. 615 0$aCollective memory in literature. 615 0$aIndic literature (English)$xHistory and criticism. 676 $a820.9/954 686 $aHQ 6040$2rvk 700 $aButt$b Nadia$f1977-$01051471 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910461101503321 996 $aTranscultural memory and globalised modernity in contemporary Indo-English novels$92481983 997 $aUNINA LEADER 01017nam0-2200313 --450 001 9910516402703321 005 20220119122243.0 010 $a978-88-255-0383-8 020 $aIT$b2018-7904 100 $a20220119d2017----kmuy0itay5050 ba 101 0 $aita 102 $aIT 105 $ay 001yy 200 1 $aAccoglienza, fecondità, trascendenza$edis-dire il soggetto con Emmanuel Lévinas$fRosa Spagnuolo Vigorita$gprefazione di Paolo Amodio 210 $aCanterano$cAracne$d2017 215 $a156 p.$d24 cm 225 1 $aArs inveniendi$v44 320 $aContiene bibl.
