Everyone knows that these scores can't tell a college everything that's important about an applicant. But what else should admissions officers look for, and how can they know it when they see it? In College Admissions for the 21st Century a leading researcher on intelligence and creativity offers a bold and practical approach to college admissions testing. Standardized tests are measures of memory and analytical skills. But the ever-changing global society beyond a college campus needs more than just those qualities, argues Robert Sternberg . Tomorrow's leaders and citizens also need creativity, practicality, and wisdom. How can the potential for those complex qualities be measured? One answer is "Kaleidoscope," a new initiative in undergraduate admissions, first used at Tufts University. Its open-ended questions for applicants, and the means used to score the answers, gives applicants and admissions officers the chance to go beyond standardized tests. Does it work? As Sternberg describes in detail, Kaleidoscope measures predicted first-year academic success, over and above SATs and high school GPAs, and predicted first-year extracurricular activities, leadership, and active citizenship as well. And every year that Kaleidoscope measures were used, the entering class's average SATs and high school GPAs went up too. What worked at Tufts can work elsewhere. New kinds of assessments, like Kaleidoscope, can liberate many colleges and students from the narrowness of standardized tests and inspire new approaches to teaching for new kinds of talented, motivated citizens of the world. 517 3 $aCollege admissions for the twenty-first century 606 $aUniversities and colleges$zUnited States$xAdmission 606 $aEducation, Higher$xStandards$zUnited States 606 $aEducational equalization$zUnited States 615 0$aUniversities and colleges$xAdmission. 615 0$aEducation, Higher$xStandards 615 0$aEducational equalization 676 $a378.1/61 700 $aSternberg$b Robert J$062274 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910961408603321 996 $aCollege admissions for the 21st century$94367991 997 $aUNINA LEADER 01548nam2 22003253i 450 001 MIL0053058 005 20251003044220.0 010 $a8802035393 020 $aIT$b81274 100 $a20170621d1980 ||||0itac50 ba 101 | $aita 102 $ait 181 1$6z01$ai $bxxxe 182 1$6z01$an 183 1$6z01$anc$2RDAcarrier 200 1 $aˆ12.5: La ‰divisione ereditaria$fAlberto Burdese 210 $aTorino$cUTET$dc1980 215 $aXX, 363 p.$d25 cm. 461 1$1001CFI0012510$12001 $aTrattato di diritto civile italiano$fredatto da diversi giureconsulti sotto la direzione di Filippo Vassalli$g\poi! fondato da Filippo Vassalli$v12.5 676 $a346$9DIRITTO PRIVATO$v21 676 $a346.052$9EREDITA'E SUCCESSIONE$v21 700 1$aBurdese$b, Alberto$3CFIV029659$4070$0211336 801 3$aIT$bIT-000000$c20170621 850 $aIT-BN0095 $aIT-SA0045 $aIT-NA0079 901 $bNAP BN$cS.MOD $nLa consegna dei documenti è effettuata dall'Ufficio Distribuzione 912 $aMIL0053058 950 2$aBiblioteca Centralizzata di Ateneo$cv. 2.2; 3.1; 3.1.1; 3.1.2; 4.1; 4.3; 4.5; 5.1.1; 5.1.2; 6.3; 7.1; 7.2; 7.2.2; 7.3; 8.2.2; 8.3; 8.3.4; 9.2.1; 9.3.2; 10.1.1; 10.3; 11.1; 11.3; 12.1; 12.4; 12.5; 14.4; 15.1.2$d 01TRA 45 TRADDC$e 01AR 0070099005 VMA (00012.5 V. 12.5 (Precedente collocazione: 346.45 TRA 12.5)$fB $h20250325$i20250325 977 $a 01$a BM$a BN 996 $aDivisione ereditaria$9680030 997 $aUNISANNIO
