The major defining features of life course, including patterns of entry to and exit from work, are shifting, as is the very nature of jobs and careers. In this multidisciplinary collection of essays, forty-eight social scientists from seven countries examine changes in the organization of work and their impact on people at various stages of the life course. In seeking to consolidate and advance life course theory, the four editors of this volume have sought out and encouraged a wide range of approaches to life course theorizing, methodologies, and research designs. The contributing scholars examine the influence of economic, technological, and demographic forces on public, corporate, and union policies concerning the organisation of work. The topics covered include: education, labour market change, and transitions in the earlier and middle stages of the working life course; later life transitions in relation to the restructuring of work, and retirement transitions; and various aspects of the relationship between individual biography and social structure, with close attention to gender and family issues over the life course. 606 $aWork$xSocial aspects 606 $aIndustrial sociology 608 $aElectronic books. 615 0$aWork$xSocial aspects. 615 0$aIndustrial sociology. 676 $a306.3/6 702 $aHeinz$b Walter R. 702 $aKrueger$b Helga 702 $aMarshall$b Victor W. 702 $aVerma$b Anil$f1949- 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910456147403321 996 $aRestructuring work and the life course$9244810 997 $aUNINA LEADER 02971nam 2200577 450 001 9910480635403321 005 20170816143313.0 010 $a1-4704-0260-2 035 $a(CKB)3360000000464853 035 $a(EBL)3114402 035 $a(SSID)ssj0000973842 035 $a(PQKBManifestationID)11555982 035 $a(PQKBTitleCode)TC0000973842 035 $a(PQKBWorkID)10985118 035 $a(PQKB)10442410 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC3114402 035 $a(PPN)195415531 035 $a(EXLCZ)993360000000464853 100 $a19990318h19991999 uy| 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aur|n|---||||| 181 $ctxt 182 $cc 183 $acr 200 10$aRational curves on quasi-projective surfaces /$fSea?n Keel, James McKernan 210 1$aProvidence, Rhode Island :$cAmerican Mathematical Society,$d[1999] 210 4$d©1999 215 $a1 online resource (169 p.) 225 1 $aMemoirs of the American Mathematical Society,$x0065-9266 ;$vnumber 669 300 $a"July 1999, volume 140, number 669 (third of 4 numbers)." 311 $a0-8218-1096-0 320 $aIncludes bibliographical references and index. 327 $a""Contents""; ""Abstract""; ""A?1 Introduction and Statement of Results""; ""A?2 Glossary of notation and conventions""; ""A?3 Gorenstein del Pezzo surfaces""; ""A?4 Bug-Eyed covers""; ""A?5 Log deformation theory""; ""A?6 Criteria for log uniruledness""; ""A?7 Reduction to I??[sup(alg)][sub(1)](S[sup(0)]) = {1}""; ""A?8 Flushness and Preparation for the Hunt""; ""A?9 Bogomolov Bound""; ""A?10 Riemann Roch and Surfaces with Small Coefficient""; ""A?11 A partial classification of K[sub(T)]-contractions""; ""A?12 The linear system |K[sub(s)] + A|""; ""A?13 Classification of Bananas and Fences"" 327 $a""A?14 T[sub(1)]a net""""A?15 g{A[sub(1)]) > 1""; ""A?16 A\ has a simple cusp""; ""A?17 A\ has a simple node""; ""A?18 Ai smooth""; ""A?19 The smooth banana""; ""A?20 Proof of (1.1) and corollaries""; ""A?21 A surface with I??[sup(alg)][sub(1)](S[sup(0)]) = {1} but no tiger""; ""A?22 Tigers, complements and toric pairs""; ""A?23 Classification of almost all rank one log del Pezzos""; ""A?
