Fundamental considerations, such as high growth rates or high returns to capital, do not provide a satisfactory resolution of this puzzle. Instead, we find that two other factors- doubts about the sustainability of disinflation and the existence of a risk premium-have a significant impact on the level of real interest rates in Turkey. Importantly, fiscal policy variables are shown to affect both these factors, suggesting that a more credible and prudent fiscal policy can help reduce real interest rates in Turkey. 410 0$aIMF Working Papers; Working Paper ;$vNo. 2008/251 606 $aInterest rates$zTurkey$xEconometric models 606 $aRisk$zTurkey$xEconometric models 606 $aFiscal policy$zTurkey$xEconometric models 606 $aBanks and Banking$2imf 606 $aInflation$2imf 606 $aInvestments: General$2imf 606 $aInterest Rates: Determination, Term Structure, and Effects$2imf 606 $aInvestment$2imf 606 $aCapital$2imf 606 $aIntangible Capital$2imf 606 $aCapacity$2imf 606 $aPrice Level$2imf 606 $aDeflation$2imf 606 $aFinancing Policy$2imf 606 $aFinancial Risk and Risk Management$2imf 606 $aCapital and Ownership Structure$2imf 606 $aValue of Firms$2imf 606 $aGoodwill$2imf 606 $aFinance$2imf 606 $aMacroeconomics$2imf 606 $aFinancial services law & regulation$2imf 606 $aReal interest rates$2imf 606 $aReturn on investment$2imf 606 $aInterest rate parity$2imf 606 $aExchange rate risk$2imf 606 $aInterest rates$2imf 606 $aSaving and investment$2imf 606 $aPrices$2imf 606 $aFinancial risk management$2imf 607 $aTurkey$2imf 615 0$aInterest rates$xEconometric models. 615 0$aRisk$xEconometric models. 615 0$aFiscal policy$xEconometric models. 615 7$aBanks and Banking 615 7$aInflation 615 7$aInvestments: General 615 7$aInterest Rates: Determination, Term Structure, and Effects 615 7$aInvestment 615 7$aCapital 615 7$aIntangible Capital 615 7$aCapacity 615 7$aPrice Level 615 7$aDeflation 615 7$aFinancing Policy 615 7$aFinancial Risk and Risk Management 615 7$aCapital and Ownership Structure 615 7$aValue of Firms 615 7$aGoodwill 615 7$aFinance 615 7$aMacroeconomics 615 7$aFinancial services law & regulation 615 7$aReal interest rates 615 7$aReturn on investment 615 7$aInterest rate parity 615 7$aExchange rate risk 615 7$aInterest rates 615 7$aSaving and investment 615 7$aPrices 615 7$aFinancial risk management 676 $a332.82 700 $aKannan$b Prakash$01493479 801 0$bDcWaIMF 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910788342703321 996 $aPerspectives on High Real Interest Rates in Turkey$93716478 997 $aUNINA LEADER 04333nam 2200625Ia 450 001 9910830093103321 005 20230725052942.0 010 $a0-470-97855-4 010 $a1-283-37393-9 010 $a9786613373939 010 $a0-470-97854-6 010 $a0-470-97857-0 035 $a(CKB)3460000000000108 035 $a(EBL)792444 035 $a(OCoLC)784883472 035 $a(SSID)ssj0000477001 035 $a(PQKBManifestationID)11335997 035 $a(PQKBTitleCode)TC0000477001 035 $a(PQKBWorkID)10501888 035 $a(PQKB)10659741 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC792444 035 $a(EXLCZ)993460000000000108 100 $a20110120d2011 uy 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aur|n|---||||| 181 $ctxt 182 $cc 183 $acr 200 00$aCoercive treatment in psychiatry$b[electronic resource] $eclinical, legal and ethical aspects /$feditors, Thomas W.
