Written predominantly in the Navajo language (Diné bizaad) and published monthly, the publication was produced by the Navajo Agency of the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) and distributed to the residents of the Window Rock reservation in Arizona. With relatively few publications (other than religious texts) written in the language up to this point, the paper is often credited with contributing to the standardisation of Navajo orthography. From 1947 onwards, articles began to be published bilingually. Notable editors include Robert W. Young and William Morgan, Sr, both of whom were known for The Navajo Language, a major Navajo dictionary also published in 1943. Towards the end of its run, the government's Indian Termination Policy would result in the withdrawal of BIA funds and the eventual closure of Adahooni?igii. 606 $aNavajo Indians$vNewspapers 606 $aIndians of North America$zArizona$vNewspapers 606 $aIndians of North America$2fast$3(OCoLC)fst00969633 606 $aNavajo Indians$2fast$3(OCoLC)fst01034799 607 $aPhoenix (Ariz.)$vNewspapers 607 $aMaricopa County (Ariz.)$vNewspapers 607 $aChinle (Ariz.)$vNewspapers 607 $aArizona$2fast 607 $aArizona$zMaricopa County$2fast 607 $aArizona$zPhoenix$2fast 608 $aNewspapers.$2fast 615 0$aNavajo Indians 615 0$aIndians of North America 615 7$aIndians of North America. 615 7$aNavajo Indians. 676 $a071.3 676 $a979.1/0049726 712 02$aPhoenix Indian School. 906 $aJOURNAL 912 $a9910502959703321 996 $aAdahooni?igii$91901867 997 $aUNINA
