Its motivation lies in the fact that Europe is a multilingual society with 24 official European Union Member State languages and dozens of additional languages including regional and minority languages. The only meaningful way to enable multilingualism and to benefit from this rich linguistic heritage is through Language Technologies (LT) including Natural Language Processing (NLP), Natural Language Understanding (NLU), Speech Technologies and language-centric Artificial Intelligence (AI) applications. The European Language Grid provides a single umbrella platform for the European LT community, including research and industry, effectively functioning as a virtual home, marketplace, showroom, and deployment centre for all services, tools, resources, products and organisations active in the field. Today the ELG cloud platform already offers access to more than 13,000 language processing tools and language resources. It enables all stakeholders to deposit, upload and deploy their technologies and datasets. The platform also supports the long-term objective of establishing digital language equality in Europe by 2030 ? to create a situation in which all European languages enjoy equal technological support. This is the very first book dedicated to Language Technology and NLP platforms. Cloud technology has only recently matured enough to make the development of a platform like ELG feasible on a larger scale. The book comprehensively describes the results of the ELG project. Following an introduction, the content is divided into four main parts: (I) ELG Cloud Platform; (II) ELG Inventory of Technologies and Resources; (III) ELG Community and Initiative; and (IV) ELG Open Calls and Pilot Projects. 410 0$aCognitive Technologies,$x2197-6635 606 $aNatural language processing (Computer science) 606 $aComputational linguistics 606 $aArtificial intelligence 606 $aExpert systems (Computer science) 606 $aApplication software 606 $aBusiness?Data processing 606 $aNatural Language Processing (NLP) 606 $aComputational Linguistics 606 $aArtificial Intelligence 606 $aKnowledge Based Systems 606 $aComputer and Information Systems Applications 606 $aBusiness Informatics 606 $aTractament del llenguatge natural (Informātica)$2thub 606 $aLingüística computacional$2thub 606 $aIntelˇligčncia artificial$2thub 606 $aSistemes experts (Informātica)$2thub 606 $aGestiķ del coneixement$2thub 608 $aLlibres electrōnics$2thub 615 0$aNatural language processing (Computer science) 615 0$aComputational linguistics. 615 0$aArtificial intelligence. 615 0$aExpert systems (Computer science) 615 0$aApplication software. 615 0$aBusiness?Data processing. 615 14$aNatural Language Processing (NLP). 615 24$aComputational Linguistics. 615 24$aArtificial Intelligence. 615 24$aKnowledge Based Systems. 615 24$aComputer and Information Systems Applications. 615 24$aBusiness Informatics. 615 7$aTractament del llenguatge natural (Informātica) 615 7$aLingüística computacional. 615 7$aIntelˇligčncia artificial. 615 7$aSistemes experts (Informātica) 615 7$aGestiķ del coneixement 676 $a006.35 686 $aCOM004000$aCOM014000$aCOM018000$aCOM025000$aCOM073000$aLAN009000$2bisacsh 700 $aRehm$b Georg$4edt$0802096 702 $aRehm$b Georg$4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910624354303321 996 $aEuropean Language Grid$93026060 997 $aUNINA LEADER 04686nam 22006735 450 001 9910254127403321 005 20200704041818.0 010 $a3-319-40590-X 024 7 $a10.1007/978-3-319-40590-2 035 $a(CKB)3710000000746250 035 $a(DE-He213)978-3-319-40590-2 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC4586764 035 $a(PPN)194515923 035 $a(EXLCZ)993710000000746250 100 $a20160708d2016 u| 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aurnn|008mamaa 181 $ctxt$2rdacontent 182 $cc$2rdamedia 183 $acr$2rdacarrier 200 10$aClimate Change, Energy Use, and Sustainability $eDiagnosis and Prescription after the Great East Japan Earthquake /$fedited by YOSHITSUGU HAYASHI, Tetsuzo Yasunari, Hiroshi Kanzawa, Hirokazu Kato 205 $a1st ed. 2016. 210 1$aCham :$cSpringer International Publishing :$cImprint: Springer,$d2016. 215 $a1 online resource (XI, 115 p. 72 illus., 59 illus. in color.) 225 1 $aSustainable Development and Sustainability Transition Studies,$x2366-7656 ;$v25 311 $a3-319-40589-6 327 $aGlobal Warming and Water: Basic Science to Clinical and Environmental Science -- Factor 5: Towards a Sustainable Society with Minimum Resource Consumption -- Energy and the Use of Nuclear Power -- Politics of Dynamic Earth: Fear of Global Warming -- Sustainable Society after Great East Japan Earthquake. 330 $aThis book is an outcome of the symposium ?Towards Earth Friendly Use of Resources and Energy,? organized by the Nagoya University Center of Excellence Program ?From Earth System Science to Basic and Clinical Environmental Studies? and presents papers by four eminent researchers. 1) Syukuro Manabe, who was honored in 2008 by the Earth Hall of Fame Kyoto, together with Ms. Maathai and Ms. Brundtland, describes the mechanisms of extreme weather, drought, and flood that were caused by climate change due to CO2 emissions. 2) Ernst Ulrich von Weizsäcker, co-chair of the Club of Rome, describes ?Factor 4 and 5? concepts such as technological progress and redesigning socioeconomic systems, e.g. taxation, and stresses the importance of humanity. 3) Hans-Peter Dürr, ex-president of the Max Planck Physics Institute as a successor of Heisenberg, explains the mechanism of a living Earth sustained by accumulated energy resources provided by the sun. He clarifies a point on preserving the dynamic stability of minerals and life on Earth. 4) Shohei Yonemoto, a well-known political scientist focusing on sustainability, explains environmental politics and why the IPCC and UNFCCC framework were established based on precaution principles.
