It is intimately linked to the national political contexts which surround it more or less closely and to the conflict horizon of the region. The experience of the civil war in Lebanon, the Israeli-Arab conflict constitute issues of memory which artists seize upon to denounce the silences, the occultations and the unspoken. The forms of their engagement are differentiated and summon plural registers: protest, political participation, multiple modes of allegiance, even withdrawal, sometimes claimed, into subjectivity.Lebanon and Syria present dissimilar situations from the point of view of the role of the state and the private sector, the political atmosphere, the weight of censorship and the institutionalization of artistic fields. Likewise, the urban frameworks of creation differ between Damascus and Beirut, two nearby cities with divergent destinies.By developing an approach to analyzing cultural productions in relation to social contexts rather than focusing on the description of works of art in themselves, the authors of this work recall that art and artistic creation are also social performances. 410 0$aContemporain publications ;$v22. 606 $aMusic, Dance, Drama & Film$2HILCC 606 $aDrama$2HILCC 610 $aesthétique 610 $aoeuvres d'art 610 $aproduction culturelle 615 7$aMusic, Dance, Drama & Film 615 7$aDrama 700 $aNicolas Puig$b Franck Mermier (dir.)$4auth$01354990 702 $aPuig$b Nicolas 702 $aMermier$b Franck 801 0$bPQKB 801 2$bUkMaJRU 912 $a9910137617203321 996 $aItinéraires esthétiques et scènes culturelles au Proche-Orient$93358900 997 $aUNINA LEADER 01050cam a2200253 i 4500 001 991002250709707536 008 070316s2003 us b 000 0 eng d 020 $a0520235606 035 $ab1349871x-39ule_inst 082 00$a884.01 100 0 $aTheocritus$05766 245 10$aEncomium of Ptolemy Philadelphus /$cTheocritus ; text and translation with introduction and commentary by Richard Hunter 260 $aBerkeley :$bUniversity of California Press,$cc2003 300 $aXII, 226 p. ;$c22 cm 440 0$aJoan Palevsky imprint in classical literature 440 0$aHellenistic culture and society ;$v38 504 $aBibliografia: p. 201-218.
