Drawing from texts written by modern Uyghur intellectuals, politicians and propagandists throughout this period, he identifies diverse types of Uyghur discourse on the nation and national interest, and traces the emergence and construction of modern Uyghur national identity. The author also demonstrates that the modern Uyghur intelligentsia regarded political emancipation and social modernization as the two most important interests of their nation, and that they envisaged Uyghurs as citizens of a modern republican state founded on the principles of representative government. This book thus presents a new perspective on Uyghur intellectual history and on Republican Xinjiang. 410 0$aChina studies (Leiden, Netherlands) ;$vVolume 30. 606 $aUighur (Turkic people)$zChina$zXinjiang Uygur Zizhiqu$xHistory$y20th century 606 $aNationalism$zChina$zXinjiang Uygur Zizhiqu 607 $aXinjiang Uygur Zizhiqu (China)$xHistory$xAutonomy and independence movements 608 $aElectronic books. 615 0$aUighur (Turkic people)$xHistory 615 0$aNationalism 676 $a320.540951/609041 700 $aKlimes?$b Ondr?ej$0872977 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910460528903321 996 $aStruggle by the pen$91948739 997 $aUNINA LEADER 00693nam a2200205 i 4500 001 991002137599707536 008 070214s1997 uk 000 0 eng d 020 $a0099755114 035 $ab13481496-39ule_inst 040 $aDip.to Lingue$bita 100 1 $aMcEwan, Ian$0176014 245 14$aThe cement garden /$cIan McEwan 260 $aLondon :$bVintage,$c1997 300 $a138 p. ;$c20 cm 907 $a.b13481496$b14-02-07$c14-02-07 912 $a991002137599707536 945 $aLE012 828.914 MCE 26$g1$i2012000109186$lle012$o-$pE0.00$q-$rl$s- $t0$u15$v3$w15$x0$y.i14368511$z14-02-07 996 $aCement garden$924273 997 $aUNISALENTO 998 $ale012$b14-02-07$cm$da $e-$feng$guk $h4$i0
