The introduction of the idea of thinking in terms of a building life cycle resulted in the need to use appropriate tools and techniques for assessing and analyzing costs throughout the life cycle of the building. Traditionally, estimates of LCC have been calculated based on historical analysis of data and have used deterministic models. The concepts of probability theory can also be applied to life cycle costing, treating the costs and timings as a stochastic process. If any subjectivity is introduced into the estimates, then the uncertainty cannot be handled using the probability theory alone. The theory of fuzzy sets is a valuable tool for handling such uncertainties. In this Special Issue, a collection of 11 contributions provide an updated overview of the approaches for estimating the life cycle cost of buildings. 606 $aTechnology: general issues$2bicssc 610 $aBayes conditional probability 610 $abidding decision 610 $abuildings 610 $acause-effect relationships 610 $aCBA 610 $aclassification 610 $acommercial and recreational complex building projects 610 $acomplex evaluation 610 $aconstruction 610 $aCOPRAS and INVAR methods 610 $acritical risk factors 610 $adamage 610 $adefects 610 $adrift ratio 610 $adynamic analysis 610 $aeconomic evaluation 610 $aEuropean Union Member States 610 $afuzzy sets 610 $ahistorical buildings 610 $aimplementation factors 610 $ainformation and communication technology 610 $aintensity 610 $ainvestment project 610 $aLCC criterion 610 $alife cycle 610 $alife cycle costs 610 $alifecycles 610 $amaintenance 610 $amarketing 610 $aMCDM 610 $amultiple criteria analysis 610 $aoccurrences 610 $aoperation and maintenance phase 610 $aoptimization 610 $aprice criterion 610 $aprobability distribution 610 $aprobability of winning 610 $arailway infrastructure 610 $areliability 610 $aresidential buildings 610 $arisk assessment 610 $arisk identification 610 $asensitivity analyses 610 $asocioeconomic impact 610 $astatistical method 610 $asteel frames 610 $asubstitution 610 $asuccess and image of a country 610 $asustainable construction industry 610 $atechnical wear 610 $atenement houses 610 $aTuned Mass Damper 615 7$aTechnology: general issues 700 $aPlebankiewicz$b Edyta$4edt$01312124 702 $aPlebankiewicz$b Edyta$4oth 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910557659003321 996 $aProbabilistic and Fuzzy Approaches for Estimating the Life Cycle Costs of Buildings$93030717 997 $aUNINA
