It is focused on Prevent, the UK?s counter-terrorism agenda, established after the London bombings in 2005. It examines specific initiatives to ?empower Muslim women? to combat terrorism. It also considers how Muslim women are positioned within broader debates about multiculturalism, integration and Britishness. It argues that together such characterisations represent a form of gendered Orientalism which produces and legitimates anti-Muslim racism and Islamophobia more generally in society. Moreover, there are particular negative effects on Muslim women which can be seen through increasing discrimination in employment and incidents of racial violence. 606 $aTerrorism$xPolitical aspects$2fast$3(OCoLC)fst01148118 606 $aMuslims$2fast$3(OCoLC)fst01031029 606 $aMuslim women$2fast$3(OCoLC)fst01030996 606 $aTerrorism$xPolitical aspects 606 $aMuslims$zGreat Britain 606 $aMuslim women$zGreat Britain 607 $aGreat Britain$2fast 608 $aElectronic books. 615 0$aTerrorism$xPolitical aspects. 615 0$aMuslims. 615 0$aMuslim women. 615 0$aTerrorism$xPolitical aspects. 615 0$aMuslims 615 0$aMuslim women 676 $a305.48697041 700 $aRashid$b Naaz$0966190 801 0$bMdBmJHUP 801 1$bMdBmJHUP 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910476777903321 996 $aVeiled Threats$92192828 997 $aUNINA
