The best-known events of these wars were the lightning and rain miracles. Divine intervention saved the Roman troops who were surrounded by the Germans and suffering from a water shortage, by means of a lightning and rain miracle. Thunderbolts struck the enemy while the rain soothed the Romans? suffering. Several pagan and Christian versions of the miracle existed already in Antiquity. Péter Kovács examines these events and their sources in detail. The most important source is the Column of Marcus Aurelius in Rome. The scenes of the column depict the miracles as well and therefore it was studied separately. The author also sketches the history of the Marcomannic wars. He publishes all the sources of the miracles and examines the development of the legend from Antiquity to the 14th century. 410 0$aMnemosyne, bibliotheca classica Batava.$pSupplementum ;$v308. 410 0$aMnemosyne, bibliotheca classica Batava.$pSupplementum.$pHistory and archaeology of classical antiquity. 606 $aMarcomannic War, 167-180$xReligious aspects 606 $aMiracles 607 $aRome$xReligion 607 $aRome$xHistory$yMarcus Aurelius, 161-180 615 0$aMarcomannic War, 167-180$xReligious aspects. 615 0$aMiracles. 676 $a937/.07 700 $aKova?cs$b Pe?ter$f1969-$0872164 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a996237237203316 996 $aMarcus Aurelius' rain miracle and the Marcomannic wars$91947138 997 $aUNISA LEADER 01005nam a2200265 i 4500 001 991001825109707536 005 20020502205211.0 008 951122s1991 uk ||| | ||| 035 $ab10916611-39ule_inst 035 $aLE02377874$9ExL 040 $aDip.to Studi Storici$bita 082 0 $a331.4 100 1 $aBackhaus, Jurgen$0475816 245 14$aThe Tax System and Female Emancipation /$cGuest editor :$bJurgen Backhaus 260 $aBradford :$bMCB University Press Limited,$c1991 300 $a120 p. ;$c24 cm. 490 0 $aJournal of Economic Studies ;$vVol. 18, n. 5/6 500 $aVol. 18 n. 5/6 del Journal of Economic Studies 650 4$aEconomia - Donne 907 $a.b10916611$b23-02-17$c28-06-02 912 $a991001825109707536 945 $aLE023 331.4 TSF 1 1$g1$i2023000032169$lle023$o-$pE0.00$q-$rl$s- $t0$u0$v0$w0$x0$y.i11020945$z28-06-02 996 $aTax System and Female Emancipation$9920534 997 $aUNISALENTO 998 $ale023$b01-01-95$cm$da $e-$feng$guk $h4$i1 LEADER 00641nam0-2200241 --450 001 9910733397303321 005 20230718125352.0 010 $a978-88-7421-256-9 100 $a20230718d2022----kmuy0itay5050 ba 101 0 $aita 102 $aIT 105 $aa 001yy 200 1 $aProcida$fSergio Siano 210 $aNapoli$cIntra Moenia edizioni$d2022 215 $a151 p.$cin gran parte ill.$d16x22 cm 700 1$aSiano,$bSergio$0833796 801 0$aIT$bUNINA$gREICAT$2UNIMARC 901 $aBK 912 $a9910733397303321 952 $aSEZ.NA B 4029$b456/2023$fFARBC 959 $aFARBC 996 $aProcida$93399249 997 $aUNINA
