Utilizing extensive interviews and participant-observation over an eighteen month period of field work, the author takes the reader into the depths of what prison inmates commonly refer to as the "hound pound." James Waldram provides a rich and powerful glimpse into the lives and treatment experiences of one of society's most hated groups. He brings together a variety of theoretical perspectives from psychological and medical anthropology, narrative theory, and cognitive science to capture the nature of sexual offender treatment, from the moment inmates arrive at the treatment facility to the day they are relased. This book explores the implications of an outside world that balks at any notion that sexual offenders can somehow be treated and rendered harmless. The author argues that the aggressive and confrontational nature of the prison's treatment approach is counterproductive to the goal of what he calls "habilitation" -- the creation of pro-social and moral individuals rendered safe for our communities. 606 $aCognitive therapy - Canada 606 $aCognitive therapy -- Canada 606 $aSex offenders - Canada - Rehabilitation 606 $aSex offenders -- Canada -- Rehabilitation 606 $aSex offenders$xRehabilitation$zCanada 606 $aCognitive therapy$zCanada 606 $aGender & Ethnic Studies$2HILCC 606 $aSocial Sciences$2HILCC 606 $aGender Studies & Sexuality$2HILCC 608 $aElectronic books. 615 4$aCognitive therapy - Canada. 615 4$aCognitive therapy -- Canada. 615 4$aSex offenders - Canada - Rehabilitation. 615 4$aSex offenders -- Canada -- Rehabilitation. 615 0$aSex offenders$xRehabilitation 615 0$aCognitive therapy 615 7$aGender & Ethnic Studies 615 7$aSocial Sciences 615 7$aGender Studies & Sexuality 676 $a365.661 700 $aWaldram$b James B, $4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut$0972798 801 0$bDE-B1597 801 1$bDE-B1597 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910461936203321 996 $aHound Pound Narrative$92451226 997 $aUNINA LEADER 01567nam 2200445 450 001 9910643162203321 005 20230209083420.0 010 $a1-119-81546-0 010 $a1-119-81544-4 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC7087557 035 $a(Au-PeEL)EBL7087557 035 $a(CKB)24831714500041 035 $a(EXLCZ)9924831714500041 100 $a20230209d2022 uy 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aurcnu|||||||| 181 $ctxt$2rdacontent 182 $cc$2rdamedia 183 $acr$2rdacarrier 200 10$aControl of power electronic converters with microgrid applications /$fArindam Ghosh and Firuz Zare 210 1$aHoboken, New Jersey :$cJohn Wiley & Sons, Inc.,$d[2022] 210 4$d©2022 215 $a1 online resource (538 pages) 225 1 $aIEEE Press Series on Power and Energy Systems Ser. 311 08$aPrint version: Ghosh, Arindam Control of Power Electronic Converters with Microgrid Applications Newark : John Wiley & Sons, Incorporated,c2022 9781119815433 410 0$aIEEE Press Series on Power and Energy Systems Ser. 606 $aElectric current converters 606 $aMicrogrids (Smart power grids) 615 0$aElectric current converters. 615 0$aMicrogrids (Smart power grids) 676 $a621.3815322 700 $aGhosh$b Arindam$01277084 702 $aZare$b Firuz 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910643162203321 996 $aControl of power electronic converters with microgrid applications$93010036 997 $aUNINA LEADER 01141nam a2200241 i 4500 001 991001004919707536 008 050509s2005 it 000 0 ita d 020 $a8832455900 035 $ab13305761-39ule_inst 040 $aSet.
