Arguments have been drawn from scripture and also from philosophy and experience, the latter being particularly important at a time when the church can no longer lay down the law, but has to be able to persuade. However, are the arguments used valid, or are they flawed? This is what Gareth Moore considers. His study covers such wide ranging topics as sexual pleasure, the purpose of sex, sexual gestures, marriage, contraception and homosexuality, and in these areas and the more specific sexual issues which he covers, he often finds the church's case defective. Though the church has valuable things to say, its supporting arguments can be unconvincing. Better arguments, he claims, are needed, or alternatively the possibility has to be faced that the church's teaching needs to be modified. 410 0$aContemporary Christian insights. 606 $aSex$xReligious aspects$xChristianity 608 $aElectronic books. 615 0$aSex$xReligious aspects$xChristianity. 676 $a241/.66 700 $aMoore$b Gareth$0550753 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910154697903321 996 $aThe body in context$91919748 997 $aUNINA LEADER 00948nam a22002411i 4500 001 991000251389707536 005 20030320184457.0 008 020927s1968 rm |||||||||||||||||rum 035 $ab11979926-39ule_inst 035 $aARCHE-006972$9ExL 040 $aDip.to Filologia Ling. e Lett.$bita$cA.t.i.
