Bubble and Crash: Poetry in Late- Late Capitalism --$tNotes --$tBibliography --$tAcknowledgments --$tIndex 330 $aIn this highly original reexamination of North American poetry in English from Ezra Pound to the present day, Christopher Nealon demonstrates that the most vital writing of the period is deeply concerned with capitalism. This focus is not exclusive to the work of left-wing poets: the problem of capitalism's effect on individuals, communities, and cultures is central to a wide variety of poetry, across a range of political and aesthetic orientations. Indeed, Nealon asserts, capitalism is the material out of which poetry in English has been created over the last century. Much as poets of previous ages continually examined topics such as the deeds of King Arthur or the history of Troy, poets as diverse as Jack Spicer, John Ashbery, and Claudia Rankine have taken as their "matter" the dynamics and impact of capitalism-not least its tendency to generate economic and political turmoil. Nealon argues persuasively that poets' attention to the matter of capital has created a corresponding notion of poetry as a kind of textual matter, capable of dispersal, retrieval, and disguise in times of crisis. Offering fresh readings of canonical poets from W. H. Auden to Adrienne Rich, as well as interpretations of younger writers like Kevin Davies, The Matter of Capital reorients our understanding of the central poetic project of the last century. 606 $aAmerican poetry$y20th century$xHistory and criticism 606 $aAmerican poetry$y21st century$xHistory and criticism 606 $aCapitalism and literature 615 0$aAmerican poetry$xHistory and criticism. 615 0$aAmerican poetry$xHistory and criticism. 615 0$aCapitalism and literature. 676 $a811/.54093553 700 $aNealon$b Christopher S$g(Christopher Shaun),$f1967-$01792903 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910968002303321 996 $aThe matter of capital$94361852 997 $aUNINA LEADER 00777nam0 2200277 i 450 001 996632672703316 005 20241209112720.0 010 $a978-88-581-5414-4 100 $a20240301d2024----||||0itac50 ba 101 $aita 102 $aIT 200 1 $aEcologia del denaro$efinanza e società nel mondo contemporaneo$fGiovanni Gozzini 210 1 $aBari$aRoma$cLaterza$d2024 215 $aXXVI, 274 p.$d21 cm 225 2 $aStoria e società 410 0$aStoria e società 606 0 $aFinanza$2BNCF 676 $a332 700 1$aGOZZINI,$bGiovanni$0140168 801 0$aIT$bcba$bcba$gREICAT 912 $a996632672703316 951 $a332 GOZ 1$b290062 L.M.$c332 GOZ$d563604 959 $aBK 969 $aECO 996 $aEcologia del denaro$94162088 997 $aUNISA
