Over the course of these forty years, a mature, increasingly comfortable, native-born Jewish community emerged and matured in London. The multifaceted growth and change in communal institutional and religious structures and habits, as well as the community's increasing familiarity and comfort with the larger English society, contributed to the formation of an Anglo-Jewish communal identity. The history of this community and the ways in which it developed are explored in this volume using archival and also contemporary advertising material that appeared in the Jewish Chronicle and other Anglo-Jewish newspapers in these years. 410 $aThe Lands and Ages of the Jewish People 606 $a1800s Jewish history 606 $a19th century Anglo-Jews 606 $a19th century history 606 $aAnglo-Jewry 606 $aBritish Jews 606 $aBritish history 606 $aEnglish history 606 $aEnglish society 606 $aHistory;English Jews;Jews 606 $aJewish Chronicle 606 $aJewish demography 606 $aJewish education 606 $aJewish emancipation 606 $aJewish life in England 606 $aJewish studies 606 $aLondon 606 $aUnited Kingdom 606 $acharity 606 $aclass 606 $acommunal religious life 606 $adiaspora 606 $amodern Jewish history 606 $amodern Jewish identity formation 606 $anineteenth century history 606 $aphilanthropy 606 $areligious culture 606 $areligious studies 606 $aresponses to modernity 606 $asocial history 606 $azedakah 606 $aHISTORY / Jewish$2bisacsh 610 $a1800s Jewish history. 610 $a19th century Anglo-Jews. 610 $a19th century history. 610 $aAnglo-Jewry. 610 $aBritish Jews. 610 $aBritish history. 610 $aEnglish Jews. 610 $aEnglish history. 610 $aEnglish society. 610 $aHistory. 610 $aJewish Chronicle. 610 $aJewish demography. 610 $aJewish education. 610 $aJewish emancipation. 610 $aJewish life in England. 610 $aJewish studies. 610 $aJews. 610 $aLondon. 610 $aUnited Kingdom. 610 $acharity. 610 $aclass. 610 $acommunal religious life. 610 $adiaspora. 610 $amodern Jewish history. 610 $amodern Jewish identity formation. 610 $anineteenth century history. 610 $aphilanthropy. 610 $areligious culture. 610 $areligious studies. 610 $aresponses to modernity. 610 $asocial history. 610 $azedakah. 615 4$a1800s Jewish history. 615 4$a19th century Anglo-Jews. 615 4$a19th century history. 615 4$aAnglo-Jewry. 615 4$aBritish Jews. 615 4$aBritish history. 615 4$aEnglish history. 615 4$aEnglish society. 615 4$aHistory;English Jews;Jews. 615 4$aJewish Chronicle. 615 4$aJewish demography. 615 4$aJewish education. 615 4$aJewish emancipation. 615 4$aJewish life in England. 615 4$aJewish studies. 615 4$aLondon. 615 4$aUnited Kingdom. 615 4$acharity. 615 4$aclass. 615 4$acommunal religious life. 615 4$adiaspora. 615 4$amodern Jewish history. 615 4$amodern Jewish identity formation. 615 4$anineteenth century history. 615 4$aphilanthropy. 615 4$areligious culture. 615 4$areligious studies. 615 4$aresponses to modernity. 615 4$asocial history. 615 4$azedakah. 615 7$aHISTORY / Jewish. 676 $a305.892/404209034 700 $aAbosch-Jacobson$b Sara$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut$01267749 712 02$aKnowledge Unlatched$4fnd$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/fnd 801 0$bDE-B1597 801 1$bDE-B1597 906 $aBOOK 912 $a996496567603316 996 $a"We are not only English Jews-we are Jewish Englishmen"$92982098 997 $aUNISA
