Considering the critical debate about orality and its influence on the composition, diffusion and transmission of the archaic epic poems, the survey provides a reconsideration and a reassessment of the traces of orality in the archaic epic poetry, following their adaptation in the synchronic and diachronic changes of the communicative system. Combining the methods of cognitive science, and the historical and literary analysis of the texts, the research explores the complexity of the literary message of the Greek epic poetry, highlighting its position in a system of oral communication. The consideration of structural and formal aspects, i.e. the traces of orality in the narrative architecture, in the epic diction, in the meter and the formulaic system, as well as the vestiges of the mixture of orality and writing, allows to reconstruct a dynamic frame of communicative modalities which influenced and enriched the archaic epic poetry, providing it with expressive potentialities destined to a longlasting permanence in the history of the genre. 410 0$aTranscodification: Arts, Languages and Media 606 $aLITERARY CRITICISM / Ancient & Classical$2bisacsh 610 $aTranscodification. 610 $aTranslation Studies. 610 $aancient communicative system. 610 $aarchaic Greek epic poetry. 610 $aculture. 610 $aorality. 615 7$aLITERARY CRITICISM / Ancient & Classical. 676 $a883.0109 702 $aBakker$b Egbert J., $4ctb$4https://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctb 702 $aBozzone$b Chiara, $4ctb$4https://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctb 702 $aBurgess$b Jonathan S., $4ctb$4https://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctb 702 $aCesare Cassio$b Albio, $4ctb$4https://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctb 702 $aErcolani$b Andrea, $4ctb$4https://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctb 702 $aErcolani$b Andrea, $4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 702 $aHunter$b Richard, $4ctb$4https://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctb 702 $aLulli$b Laura, $4ctb$4https://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctb 702 $aLulli$b Laura, $4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 702 $aMinchin$b Elizabeth, $4ctb$4https://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctb 702 $aMontanari$b Franco, $4ctb$4https://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctb 702 $aQuadrelli$b Silvia, $4ctb$4https://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctb 702 $aScafoglio$b Giampiero, $4ctb$4https://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctb 702 $aZeman$b Sonja, $4ctb$4https://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctb 801 0$bDE-B1597 801 1$bDE-B1597 906 $aBOOK 912 $a996475756303316 996 $aRethinking Orality II$92860366 997 $aUNISA
