It is the first account in English to study these materials using an illustrative sample of printed texts and to assess their impact based on secret police and agitator situation reports. The book surveys texts published by the Central Rada, the Ukrainian State, the Ukrainian National Republic, the Ukrainian Socialist Revolutionary Party, the Ukrainian Social Democratic and Labour Party, the Independentists, Ukrainian Communist Party (UCP), Ukraine's Bolshevik Party (CPU), and anti-Bolshevik warlords. It includes 46 reproductions and describes the infrastructure that underlay the production and dissemination of printed text propaganda. The author argues that in the war of words neither Ukrainian failures nor Bolshevik success should be exaggerated. Each side managed to sway opinion in its favour in specific places at specific times. 606 $aBolsheviks 606 $aCentral Rada 606 $aUkrainian Socialist Revolutionary Party 606 $ahistory of Ukraine 606 $ahistory of propaganda 606 $aleaflets and cartoons 606 $apropaganda 606 $arevolution and media 606 $arevolutionary Ukraine 606 $awar and media 606 $aHISTORY / Russia & the Former Soviet Union$2bisacsh 607 $aUkraine$xHistory$yRevolution, 1917-1921 608 $aElectronic books. 610 $aBolsheviks. 610 $aCentral Rada. 610 $aUkrainian Socialist Revolutionary Party. 610 $ahistory of Ukraine. 610 $ahistory of propaganda. 610 $aleaflets and cartoons. 610 $apropaganda. 610 $arevolution and media. 610 $arevolutionary Ukraine. 610 $awar and media. 615 4$aBolsheviks. 615 4$aCentral Rada. 615 4$aUkrainian Socialist Revolutionary Party. 615 4$ahistory of Ukraine. 615 4$ahistory of propaganda. 615 4$aleaflets and cartoons. 615 4$apropaganda. 615 4$arevolution and media. 615 4$arevolutionary Ukraine. 615 4$awar and media. 615 7$aHISTORY / Russia & the Former Soviet Union. 676 $a947.710841 700 $aVelychenko$b Stephen$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut$01089090 801 0$bDE-B1597 801 1$bDE-B1597 906 $aBOOK 912 $a996472049203316 996 $aPropaganda in Revolutionary Ukraine$92843182 997 $aUNISA
