PPSN is one of the most respected and highly regarded conference series in evolutionary computation and natural computing/computation. This biennial eventwas?rstheldinDortmundin1990,andtheninBrussels(1992),Jerusalem (1994), Berlin (1996), Amsterdam (1998), Paris (2000), and Granada (2002). PPSN VIII continues to be the conference of choice by researchers all over the world who value its high quality. We received a record 358 paper submissions this year. After an extensive peer review process involving more than 1100 reviews, the programme c- mittee selected the top 119 papers for inclusion in this volume and, of course, for presentation at the conference. This represents an acceptance rate of 33%. Please note that review reports with scores only but no textual comments were not considered in the chairs? ranking decisions. The papers included in this volume cover a wide range of topics, from e- lutionary computation to swarm intelligence and from bio-inspired computing to real-world applications. They represent some of the latest and best research in evolutionary and natural computation. Following the PPSN tradition, all - persatPPSNVIII werepresentedasposters.Therewere7 sessions:eachsession consisting of around 17 papers. For each session, we covered as wide a range of topics as possible so that participants with di?erent interests would ?nd some relevant papers at every session. 410 0$aLecture Notes in Computer Science,$x0302-9743 ;$v3242 606 $aArchitecture, Computer 606 $aComputers 606 $aAlgorithms 606 $aComputer programming 606 $aSoftware engineering 606 $aArtificial intelligence 606 $aComputer System Implementation$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/I13057 606 $aComputation by Abstract Devices$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/I16013 606 $aAlgorithm Analysis and Problem Complexity$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/I16021 606 $aProgramming Techniques$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/I14010 606 $aSoftware Engineering$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/I14029 606 $aArtificial Intelligence$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/I21000 615 0$aArchitecture, Computer. 615 0$aComputers. 615 0$aAlgorithms. 615 0$aComputer programming. 615 0$aSoftware engineering. 615 0$aArtificial intelligence. 615 14$aComputer System Implementation. 615 24$aComputation by Abstract Devices. 615 24$aAlgorithm Analysis and Problem Complexity. 615 24$aProgramming Techniques. 615 24$aSoftware Engineering. 615 24$aArtificial Intelligence. 676 $a004/.35 702 $aYao$b Xin$4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 702 $aBurke$b Edmund$4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 702 $aLozano$b Jose A$4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 702 $aSmith$b Jim$4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 702 $aMerelo-Guervós$b Juan J$4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 702 $aBullinaria$b John A$4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 702 $aRowe$b Jonathan$4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 702 $aTino$b Peter$4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 702 $aKabán$b Ata$4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 702 $aSchwefel$b Hans-Paul$4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 712 12$aConference on Parallel Problem Solving from Nature 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a996465711903316 996 $aParallel Problem Solving from Nature - PPSN VIII$92257560 997 $aUNISA
