The contributors analyse choruses as fictional, religious and civic performers; as combinations of text, song and dance; and as objects of reflection in themselves, in relation and contrast to the choruses of comedy and melic poetry. Drawing on earlier analyses of the social context of Greek drama, the non-textual dimensions of tragedy, and the relations between dramatic and melic choruses, the chapters explore the uses of various analytic tools in allowing us better to capture the specificity of the tragic chorus. Special attention is given to the physicality of choral dancing, musical interactions between choruses and actors, the trajectories of reception, and the treatment of time and space in the odes. 606 $aDrama$xChorus (Greek drama) 606 $aGreek drama (Tragedy)$xHistory and criticism 615 0$aDrama$xChorus (Greek drama) 615 0$aGreek drama (Tragedy)$xHistory and criticism. 676 $a882/.0109 702 $aGagne?$b Renaud$f1976- 702 $aHopman$b Marianne Govers$f1974- 801 0$bUkCbUP 801 1$bUkCbUP 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910462706003321 996 $aChoral mediations in Greek tragedy$92478463 997 $aUNINA LEADER 03970nam 22007695 450 001 996465557003316 005 20200706082153.0 010 $a3-642-22092-4 024 7 $a10.1007/978-3-642-22092-0 035 $a(CKB)2670000000095938 035 $a(SSID)ssj0000530730 035 $a(PQKBManifestationID)11351719 035 $a(PQKBTitleCode)TC0000530730 035 $a(PQKBWorkID)10567889 035 $a(PQKB)11719242 035 $a(DE-He213)978-3-642-22092-0 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC3066839 035 $a(PPN)153862742 035 $a(EXLCZ)992670000000095938 100 $a20110616d2011 u| 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aurnn|008mamaa 181 $ctxt 182 $cc 183 $acr 200 10$aInformation Processing in Medical Imaging$b[electronic resource] $e22nd International Conference, IPMI 2011, Kloster Irsee, Germany, July 3-8, 2011, Proceedings /$fedited by Gábor Székely, Horst K.
