The socio-political relevance of the categories of 'age' and 'ageing' have been increasing and gaining much attention within different scholarly fields. However, none of the efforts to identify age-related diseases or the processes of ageing in order to develop suitable strategies for prevention and therapy have had any effect on the fact that attitudes against the elderly are based on patterns that are determined by parameters that or not biological or sociological: age(ing) is also a cultural fact. This book reveals the importance of cultural factors in order to build a framework for analyzing and understanding cultural constructions of ageing, bringing together scholarly discourses from the arts and humanities as well as social, medical and psychological fields of study. The contributions pave the way for new strategies of caring for elderly people. 606 $aSOCIAL SCIENCE / Sociology / General$2bisacsh 608 $aElectronic books. 610 $aCultural gerontolgy. 610 $aageing. 610 $aarts. 610 $adementia. 615 7$aSOCIAL SCIENCE / Sociology / General. 676 $a305.26 702 $aBaro$b Hanna$4ctb$4https://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctb 702 $aCasado-Gual$b Núria$4ctb$4https://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctb 702 $aDomínguez-Rué$b Emma$4ctb$4https://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctb 702 $aFangerau$b Heiner$f1972-$4ctb$4https://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctb 702 $aLamb$b Erin Gentry$4ctb$4https://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctb 702 $aHansson$b Nils$4ctb$4https://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctb 702 $aHartung$b Heike$4ctb$4https://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctb 702 $aHülsen-Esch$b Andrea von$4ctb$4https://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctb 702 $aHu?lsen-Esch$b Andrea von$4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 702 $aKruse$b Andreas$4ctb$4https://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctb 702 $aMartin$b Susanne$4ctb$4https://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctb 702 $aMeyer$b Birgit$4ctb$4https://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctb 702 $aRolfes$b Vasilija$4ctb$4https://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctb 702 $aSchäfer$b Daniel$4ctb$4https://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctb 801 0$bDE-B1597 801 1$bDE-B1597 906 $aBOOK 912 $a996449436303316 996 $aCultural Perspectives on Aging$92566155 997 $aUNISA
