Arguing that any explanation of absence rates must take into account the interests of both employers and employees, this book constructs a model of the markets for absence and sick pay. These are not independent since sick pay affects workers' incentives to be absent, and absences affect employers' willingness to pay sick pay. The book reviews the available empirical evidence relating to both markets, stressing the importance of careful identification of the effect of the price of absence on demand, since this is a crucial quantity for firms' policies. It concludes by discussing the implications of the model for human resources management, and for the role of the state in sick pay provision. 517 3 $aWorker Absenteeism & Sick Pay 606 $aSick leave 606 $aAbsenteeism (Labor) 615 0$aSick leave. 615 0$aAbsenteeism (Labor) 676 $a331.25/762 700 $aTreble$b John$0146102 702 $aBarmby$b Tim 801 0$bUkCbUP 801 1$bUkCbUP 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910461412403321 996 $aWorker absenteeism and sick pay$92456426 997 $aUNINA LEADER 01561nam 2200373Ia 450 001 996395727003316 005 20221108101102.0 035 $a(CKB)3810000000018461 035 $a(EEBO)2240956426 035 $a(OCoLC)12257321 035 $a(EXLCZ)993810000000018461 100 $a19850712d1671 uy | 101 0 $aeng 135 $aurbn||||a|bb| 200 10$aJoshua redivivus, or, Mr. Rutherfoord's letters$b[electronic resource] $edivided into two parts, the first, containing these which were written from Aberdeen, where he was confined by a sentence of the high commission ... partly on account of his non-conformance : the second, containing some which were written from Anworth ... /$fnow published for the use of all the people of God ... by a wellwisher to the work and people of God 205 $aThe second edition. 210 $a[Edinburgh? $cs.n.]$d1671 215 $a[48], 576 p 300 $aPlace of publication suggested by Wing. 300 $aErrata on preliminary p.
