As most textbooks about this powerful computing paradigm date back to the 1960's and 1970's, it fills a void and forges a bridge from the early days of analog computing to future applications. The idea of analog computing is not new. In fact, this computing paradigm is nearly forgotten, although it offers a path to both high-speed and low-power computing, which are in even more demand now than they were back in the heyday of electronic analog computers. This first chapters of this book define the notion of analog computing and cover the early history of mechanical and electromechanical analog computers before focusing on the development and the basics of electronic analog computing elements and computers based on these. Two chapters give an introduction to the programming of analog computers with a number of detailed sample problems and solutions. These problems range from simple mass-spring-damper systems to predator-prey simulations and conformal mappings. The following chapters introduce the basic concepts of hybrid computers and digital differential analyzers, the latter of which offer an enormous potential for future applications based on field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs) or the like. The second half of the book is dedicated to an overview of typical applications of analog computers based on a comprehensive bibliography. The last chapter describes future prospects for the analog computing paradigm. 606 $aElectronic analog computers 615 0$aElectronic analog computers. 676 $a651.8 686 $aZN 5530$2rvk 700 $aUlmann$b Bernd$01662116 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910817786703321 996 $aAnalog Computing$94018512 997 $aUNINA LEADER 02760nam 22006495 450 001 9910254106303321 005 20200630190401.0 010 $a3-319-29303-6 024 7 $a10.1007/978-3-319-29303-5 035 $a(CKB)3710000000616305 035 $a(EBL)4454258 035 $a(SSID)ssj0001654056 035 $a(PQKBManifestationID)16433522 035 $a(PQKBTitleCode)TC0001654056 035 $a(PQKBWorkID)14982915 035 $a(PQKB)11442218 035 $a(DE-He213)978-3-319-29303-5 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC4454258 035 $a(PPN)192773321 035 $a(EXLCZ)993710000000616305 100 $a20160318d2016 u| 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aur|n|---||||| 181 $ctxt 182 $cc 183 $acr 200 10$aGeology and Paleontology of the Quaternary of Uruguay /$fby Martin Ubilla, Sergio Martínez 205 $a1st ed. 2016. 210 1$aCham :$cSpringer International Publishing :$cImprint: Springer,$d2016. 215 $a1 online resource (82 p.) 225 1 $aSpringerBriefs in Earth System Sciences,$x2191-589X 300 $aDescription based upon print version of record. 311 $a3-319-29301-X 320 $aIncludes bibliographical references and index. 327 $aIntroduction -- Marine and Transitional Deposits -- Continental Deposits -- The Quaternary of Uruguay at Regional Scale. 330 $aThis book provides an updated review and criticism of the progress of the continental, transitional and marine Quaternary deposits of Uruguay. It is primarily based on an analysis of the geological and paleontological evidences, synthesizing the time (numerical ages, biostratigraphy), environment and climatic situations involved and highlighting the most relevant paleontological content. 410 0$aSpringerBriefs in Earth System Sciences,$x2191-589X 606 $aPaleontology 606 $aEnvironmental geology 606 $aEnvironmental geology 606 $aPaleontology$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/G39000 606 $aGeoecology/Natural Processes$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/U21006 615 0$aPaleontology. 615 0$aEnvironmental geology. 615 0$aEnvironmental geology. 615 14$aPaleontology. 615 24$aGeoecology/Natural Processes. 676 $a550 700 $aUbilla$b Martin$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut$01059759 702 $aMartínez$b Sergio$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910254106303321 996 $aGeology and Paleontology of the Quaternary of Uruguay$92508093 997 $aUNINA
