Conclusion: Health Care and Universality - Looking Ahead -- $tNOTES -- $tREFERENCES -- $tINDEX 330 $aAccess to universal health care in Canada has become a symbol of national identity and, as such, has also become a highly contentious and politically charged question in the field of public policy. The extent of the passion and disagreement that health care issues provoke is evident in the simple fact that although Canada has undergone dramatic changes in citizenship development since the early 1980s, the health care system has changed very little. Candace Johnson Redden examines the theoretical dimensions of citizenship and rights in Canada as they intersect with health care politics, and offers possible answers to questions concerning the philosophical and political meanings of the right to health care in advanced industrial societies, the equitable distribution of health care resources in those societies, and the effects of globalization and fractured patterns of citizenship on discussions of entitlement, universal human rights, and bioethics. Redden asserts that this new change in citizenship development will require a health care system that is capable of recognizing the different citizenships across Canada, flexible enough to accommodate many different citizenship claims, and consequently able to facilitate interaction between communities and governments. This interdisciplinary study examines epidemiological, technological, and political patterns, and will appeal to anyone interested in Canadian politics, policy, citizenship and health care. 410 0$aInstitute of Public Administration of Canada series in public management and governance. 606 $aRight to health$zCanada 606 $aMedical policy$zCanada 606 $aCitizenship$zCanada 608 $aElectronic books. 615 0$aRight to health 615 0$aMedical policy 615 0$aCitizenship 676 $a362.1/0971 700 $aRedden$b Candace$01034881 712 02$aInstitute of Public Administration of Canada. 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910456286403321 996 $aHealth care, entitlement, and citizenship$92454271 997 $aUNINA LEADER 01691nam 2200397Ia 450 001 996389664603316 005 20210104172047.0 035 $a(CKB)4940000000095598 035 $a(EEBO)2240882797 035 $a(OCoLC)ocn811766110e 035 $a(OCoLC)811766110 035 $a(EXLCZ)994940000000095598 100 $a20121003d1620 uy 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aurbn||||a|bb| 200 14$aAne act against all vnlawfull alienations, made by dyvours and banck-rupts$b[electronic resource] $eApud Edinburgh xij die mensis Iulij 1620 210 $a[Edinburgh] $cPrinted by Thomas Finlason his M. printer$d[1620] 215 $a1 sheet ([1] p.) 300 $aPlace and date of publication suggested by STC (2nd ed.). 300 $aPrinted on 2 sheets pasted together before printing. 300 $aAt end of text: ordeined to bee published in print.
