This was a process in which the Allies, international aid organizations, and survivors themselves took part. New archives, documentation centers and tracing bureaus were founded amid the increasing Cold War divide. They gathered documents on Nazi persecution and structured them in specialized collections to provide information on individual fates and their grave repercussions: the loss of relatives, the search for a new home, physical or mental injuries, existential problems, social support and recognition, but also continued exclusion or discrimination. By doing so, institutions involved in this work were inevitably confronted with contentious issues?such as varying political mandates, neutrality vs. solidarity with those formerly persecuted, data protection vs. public interest, and many more. Over time, tracing bureaus and archives changed methods and policies and even expanded their activities, using historical documents for both research and public remembrance. This is the first publication to explore this multifaceted history of tracing and documenting past and present. 410 0$aArolsen Research 606 $aHolocaust 606 $aInternational Tracing Service 606 $aNational Socialism 606 $aPersecution 606 $aHISTORY / Europe / Germany$2bisacsh 607 $aGermany$2fast 608 $aDatabases$2fast 608 $aHistory$2fast 608 $aSources$2fast 610 $aHolocaust. 610 $aInternational Tracing Service. 610 $aNational Socialism. 610 $aPersecution. 615 4$aHolocaust. 615 4$aInternational Tracing Service. 615 4$aNational Socialism. 615 4$aPersecution. 615 7$aHISTORY / Europe / Germany. 676 $a943.086 686 $aND 1430$2rvk 700 $aPanek$b Isabel$4auth$01372076 702 $aBorggräfe$b Henning, $4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 702 $aHöschler$b Christian, $4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 702 $aPanek$b Isabel, $4edt$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edt 801 0$bDE-B1597 801 1$bDE-B1597 906 $aBOOK 912 $a996347747903316 996 $aTracing and Documenting Nazi Victims Past and Present$93402001 997 $aUNISA LEADER 04402nam 2200781 a 450 001 9910812683103321 005 20250513225442.0 010 $a9786613694195 010 $a9780470720493 010 $a0470720492 010 $a9781280783807 010 $a128078380X 010 $a9780470718186 010 $a0470718188 035 $a(CKB)1000000000688118 035 $a(SSID)ssj0000715455 035 $a(PQKBManifestationID)11471084 035 $a(PQKBTitleCode)TC0000715455 035 $a(PQKBWorkID)10701711 035 $a(PQKB)11513374 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC703889 035 $a(Au-PeEL)EBL703889 035 $a(CaPaEBR)ebr10575463 035 $a(CaONFJC)MIL369419 035 $a(OCoLC)797918437 035 $a(Perlego)2776566 035 $a(EXLCZ)991000000000688118 100 $a20790403d1979 uy 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aurcn||||||||| 181 $ctxt$2rdacontent 182 $cc$2rdamedia 183 $acr$2rdacarrier 200 10$aSubmolecular biology and cancer $ein honour of Albert Szent-Györgyi on the occasion of his 85th birthday /$f[editors, G. Kola war zwar reich an Bodenscha?tzen, verfu?gte jedoch u?ber keine fossilen Brennstoffe. Wie die Region mit Energie zu versorgen sei, war u?ber Jahrzehnte ein Verhandlungsgegenstand. Sowjetische Botaniker forschten auf der Halbinsel Kola an einer arktistauglichen Kartoffel. Zur selben Zeit entstanden Wasserkraftwerke jenseits des Polarkreises; Kumpel fo?rderten Kohle in gefrorenen Minen. Diese Bemu?hungen der 1930er Jahre verband ein Leitgedanke: Die Energieversorgung jeder sowjetischen Region sollte eigensta?ndig sein. Nach 1945 wich diese Maxime vermehrt u?berregionalen Interdependenzen. Kola verband sich durch Hochspannungsleitungen, Brennstoffeinfuhr und internationale Kraftwerkprojekte immer sta?rker mit fernen Landschaften. Regionale Autarkie und gesamtstaatliche Verflechtung waren Grundgedanken sowjetischen Verwaltungshandelns, dessen Erbe nicht nur im Energiesektor bis heute nachwirkt." 606 $a20th century history: c 1900 to c 2000$2bicssc 610 $aHistory 610 $aNordosten 610 $aRussland 610 $aMurmansk 610 $aEnergiegeschichte 610 $aZeitgeschichte 610 $aHIS037070 610 $aHIS032000 610 $aHBJQ 615 7$a20th century history: c 1900 to c 2000 700 $aFrey$b Felix$0999530 801 0$bScCtBLL 801 1$bScCtBLL 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910333239203321 996 $aArktischer Heizraum$92293880 997 $aUNINA
