Forms of a World shows how the innovations of contemporary poetics have been forged through the transformations of globalization across five decades. Sensing the changes wrought by neoliberalism before they are made fully present, poets from around the world have creatively intervened in global processes by remaking poetry?s formal repertoire. In experimental reinventions of the ballad, the prospect poem, and the ode, Hunter excavates a new, globalized interpretation of the ethical and political relevance of forms. Forms of a World contends that poetry?s role is not only to make visible thematically the violence of global dispossessions, but to renew performatively the missing conditions for intervening within these processes. Poetic acts?the rhetoric of possessing, belonging, exhorting, and prospecting?address contemporary conditions that render social life ever more precarious. Examining an eclectic group of Anglophone poets, from Seamus Heaney and Claudia Rankine to Natasha Trethewey and Kofi Awoonor, Hunter elaborates the range of ways that contemporary poets exhort us to imagine forms of social life and enable political intervention unique to but beyond the horizon of the contemporary global situation. 410 0$aFordham scholarship online. 606 $aLiterature and globalization 608 $aElectronic books. 615 0$aLiterature and globalization. 676 $a809/.933553 700 $aHunter$b Walt$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut$01028519 801 0$bDE-B1597 801 1$bDE-B1597 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910479892603321 996 $aForms of a World$92448931 997 $aUNINA LEADER 05083nam 2200601Ia 450 001 996339087703316 005 20170816155124.0 010 $a1-78017-059-9 010 $a1-906124-46-9 035 $a(CKB)1000000000807338 035 $a(EBL)634524 035 $a(OCoLC)764571158 035 $a(SSID)ssj0000486672 035 $a(PQKBManifestationID)11318108 035 $a(PQKBTitleCode)TC0000486672 035 $a(PQKBWorkID)10441448 035 $a(PQKB)10878404 035 $a(CaSebORM)9781902505718 035 $a(MiAaPQ)76016 035 $a(EXLCZ)991000000000807338 100 $a20060413d2006 uy 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aur|n|---||||| 181 $ctxt 182 $cc 183 $acr 200 10$aPractical data migration$b[electronic resource] /$fJohn Morris 205 $a1st edition 210 $aSwindon $cBritish Computer Society$dc2006 215 $a1 online resource (227 p.) 300 $aIncludes index. 311 $a1-902505-71-9 327 $a""Copyright""; ""Contents""; ""List of Figures and Tables""; ""Author""; ""Foreword""; ""Glossary""; ""Preface""; ""Introduction""; ""Part One Reasons and Methods""; ""1 Reasons""; ""WHY QUALITY DATA MIGRATION MATTERS""; ""A PRACTITIONER'S PERSPECTIVE""; ""2 The Golden Rules""; ""THE MOST IMPORTANT LESSONS""; ""3 Data Stakeholders""; ""INTRODUCTION""; ""THE COMMUTER AND THE KNIGHT ERRANT""; ""OWNERSHIP""; ""FINDING THE RIGHT FELLOW TRAVELLERS""; ""4 Four Key Concepts""; ""FIRST: A HEALTH WARNING""; ""USING CONCEPTUAL ENTITY MODELS TO DEFINE THE KEY BUSINESS DATA AREAS"" 327 $a""DOCUMENTING KEY BUSINESS DATA AREA RELATIONS""""DOCUMENTING INDIVIDUAL KEY BUSINESS DATA AREAS""; ""CONFUSING DATA STRUCTURES AND BUSINESS FUNCTIONS""; ""LEGACY DATA STORES""; ""DOCUMENTING LEGACY DATA STORES""; ""5 Data Quality Rules""; ""INTRODUCING DATA QUALITY RULES""; ""A TYPICAL DATA QUALITY RULE DOCUMENT""; ""DATA QUALITY ASSESSMENT""; ""METHOD STATEMENTS""; ""METRICS""; ""GENERATING DATA QUALITY RULES""; ""6 Data Gaps and Data Mapping""; ""HEALTH WARNING""; ""STANDARD DATA MIGRATION TERMS""; ""DATA GAP ANALYSIS""; ""DATA MAPPING""; ""7 Non-functional Requirements""; ""INTRODUCTION"" 327 $a""DATA SIZING""""RUN TIMES""; ""SEQUENCING""; ""HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE CONSIDERATIONS""; ""WINDOWS OF OPPORTUNITY""; ""DATA MIGRATION IMPLEMENTATION FORMS""; ""FALLBACK""; ""THE JONE WAY STREET' PROBLEM""; ""Part Two Specimen Project""; ""8 Project Overview""; ""INTRODUCTION""; ""SPECIMEN PROJECT OVERVIEW""; ""WHY A SEPARATE PROJECT?""; ""BACK TO THE EXAMPLE PROJECT""; ""USE OF ITERATION""; ""PROJECT CONTROL POINTS AND PLANNING""; ""9 Stage 0 Project Initiation""; ""INTRODUCTION""; ""STANDARD PROJECT INITIATION DELIVERABLES""; ""CREATE YOUR OWN DATA MIGRATION STRATEGY"" 327 $a""FIRST-CUT PROJECT PLAN""""SET UP AN APPROPRIATE PROJECT SUPPORT OFFICE FUNCTION""; ""INITIAL LISTS OF DATA STORE OWNERS, LEGACY DATA STORES AND KEY BUSINESS DATA AREAS""; ""STAGE 0 CLOSEDOWN""; ""STAGE 0 PROJECT CONTROL POINTS""; ""10 Stage 1 Data Preparation""; ""STEP 1.0: STAGE INITIATION""; ""STEP 1.1: ANALYSE LEGACY DATA STORES""; ""STEP 1.2: UPDATE KEY BUSINESS DATA AREA MODELS""; ""STEP 1.3: CREATE FIRST-CUT SYSTEM RETIREMENT POLICIES""; ""STEP 1.4: CREATE DATA QUALITY RULES""; ""STEP 1.5: ENACT DATA QUALITY RULES""; ""DATA TRANSITIONAL RULES""; ""TRANSIENT DATA STORES"" 327 $a""USE OF RECURSION""""STAGE 1 CLOSEDOWN""; ""STAGE 1 PROJECT CONTROLS""; ""11 Stage 2 Data Preparation""; ""STEP 2.0: STAGE INITIATION""; ""STEP 2.1: NOMINATE CANDIDATE LEGACY DATA STORES""; ""STEP 2.2: CREATE STAGE 2 DATA QUALITY RULES""; ""STEP 2.3: ENACT DATA QUALITY RULES""; ""STEP 2.4: ENHANCE SYSTEM RETIREMENT POLICIES""; ""DATA TRANSITIONAL RULES""; ""TRANSIENT DATA STORES""; ""STAGE 2 CLOSEDOWN""; ""STAGE 2 PROJECT CONTROLS""; ""12 Stage 3 Build, Test and Go Live""; ""STAGE 3 OVERVIEW""; ""STEP 3.0: STAGE INITIATION""; ""STEP 3.1: PHYSICAL DESIGN OF MIGRATION"" 327 $a""STEP 3.2: DATA MIGRATION TESTING"" 330 $aEnsuring the success of data migration projects is crucial, especially if a business is looking to achieve maximum return on its investment.
