During World War II some 40,000 Jews found themselves under Japanese occupation in Manchuria, China and countries of South East Asia. Virtually all of them survived the war, unlike their brethren in Europe. This book traces the evolution of Japan's policy towards the Jews from the beginning of the 20th century, the existence of anti-Semitism in Japan, and why Japan ignored repeated Nazi demands to become involved in the "final solution." 606 $aJews$zJapan$xHistory$y20th century 606 $aJewish refugees$zJapan 607 $aJapan$xPolitics and government$y1926-1945 607 $aJapan$xEthnic relations 615 0$aJews$xHistory 615 0$aJewish refugees 676 $a940.53089924052 686 $aSOC049000$aHIS021000$aHIS003000$2bisacsh 700 $aMedzini$b Meron, $4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut.$0530779 712 02$aKnowledge Unlatched$4fnd$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/fnd 801 0$bDE-B1597 801 1$bDE-B1597 906 $aBOOK 912 $a996328040003316 996 $aUnder the Shadow of the Rising Sun$91891806 997 $aUNISA
