The workshopwas held from September 30 to October 2 in the Gunnewig ¨ Hotel Bristol in Bonn, Germany. TheworkshopwasorganizedbytheFraunhoferInstituteforIntelligent Analysis and Information Systems (IAIS), Sankt Augustin, Germany. CRITIS 2009 continued the series of successful CRITIS Workshops. Com- nies, researchinstitutions, andgovernmentalorganizationsfromallmainareasof critical infrastructures took an active part in supporting CRITIS and we found CRITIS 2009 both exciting and informative. The selected papers addressed a range of key issues and demonstrated the ubiquity and global importance of - formation infrastructures. Each paper had at least three independent technical reviews and we accepted 13 full papers out of 34 submissions. We were very fortunate in having a range of invited speakers that c- ered policy, research and industry perspectives. James Smith from Los Alamos National Laboratory addressed the challenges and achievements in their work on "Large-Scale Modeling and Simulation of Critical Infrastructure. " Orestis Terzidis, Vice President SAP AG, talked on the "The Internet for Energy: P- spectives and Challenges. " Continuing with the energy theme, Alla Heidenreich, from SIEMENS AG, Corporate Research and Technologies (Germany) provided her insights on the "Secure ICT Infrastructure for the Future Power Grid. " Critical infrastructure protection is an area where an e'ective private-public partnership is required. A government perspective was provided by Michael P- germann, German Ministry of the Interior, who talked on German strategy - garding CIIP. 410 0$aSecurity and Cryptology,$x2946-1863 ;$v6027 606 $aComputer networks 606 $aComputers 606 $aComputer science 606 $aElectronic data processing$xManagement 606 $aCryptography 606 $aData encryption (Computer science) 606 $aComputers, Special purpose 606 $aComputer Communication Networks 606 $aHardware Performance and Reliability 606 $aTheory of Computation 606 $aIT Operations 606 $aCryptology 606 $aSpecial Purpose and Application-Based Systems 615 0$aComputer networks. 615 0$aComputers. 615 0$aComputer science. 615 0$aElectronic data processing$xManagement. 615 0$aCryptography. 615 0$aData encryption (Computer science). 615 0$aComputers, Special purpose. 615 14$aComputer Communication Networks. 615 24$aHardware Performance and Reliability. 615 24$aTheory of Computation. 615 24$aIT Operations. 615 24$aCryptology. 615 24$aSpecial Purpose and Application-Based Systems. 676 $a005.8 701 $aRome$b Erich$01739333 701 $aBloomfield$b Robin$01756367 712 12$aCRITIS 2009 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910484715403321 996 $aCritical information infrastructures security$94193604 997 $aUNINA
