It is founded in petrology and geochemistry, which define a petrogenetic context or delimit a specific process, to which chronometric data are then linked. This combination informs Earth's petrogenetic processes better than petrology or geochronology alone. This volume and the accompanying short courses address three broad categories of inquiry.Conceptual approaches chaptersinclude petrologic modeling of multi-component chemical and mineralogic systems, and development of methods that include diffusive alteration of mineral chemistry.Methods chaptersaddress four main analytical techniques, specifically EPMA, LA-ICP-MS, SIMS and TIMS.Mineral-specific chaptersexplore applications to a wide range of minerals, including zircon (metamorphic, igneous, and detrital/Hadean), baddeleyite, REE minerals (monazite, allanite, xenotime and apatite), titanite, rutile, garnet, and major igneous minerals (olivine, plagioclase and pyroxenes). These applications mainly focus on metamorphic, igneous, or tectonic processes, but additionally elucidate fundamental transdisciplinary progress in addressing mechanisms of crystal growth, the chemical consequences of mineral growth kinetics, and how chemical transport and deformation affect chemically complex mineral composites. Most chapters further recommend areas of future research. 410 0$aReviews in mineralogy and geochemistry ;$vVolume 83. 606 $aPetrology 606 $aPetroleum$xGeology 606 $aGeological time 608 $aElectronic books. 615 0$aPetrology. 615 0$aPetroleum$xGeology. 615 0$aGeological time. 676 $a552 686 $aRB 10123$2rvk 702 $aKohn$b Matthew J. 702 $aEngi$b Martin 702 $aLanari$b Pierre 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910466962003321 996 $aPetrochronology$92491541 997 $aUNINA LEADER 02385nas 2200637-a 450 001 996321485503316 005 20240114213020.0 011 $a1736-8758 035 $a(DE-599)ZDB2571510-0 035 $a(OCoLC)661095884 035 $a(CKB)2670000000027761 035 $a(CONSER)--2010267093 035 $a(EXLCZ)992670000000027761 100 $a20100825a20099999 --- - 101 0 $aeng 135 $aur||||||||||| 181 $ctxt$2rdacontent 182 $cc$2rdamedia 183 $acr$2rdacarrier 200 00$aStudies of transition states and societies 210 $a[Tallinn, Estonia] $cTallinn University Institute of Political Science and Governance $cTallinn University Institute of International and Social Studies 300 $aRefereed/Peer-reviewed 311 $a1736-874X 517 3 $aSTSS 606 $aPost-communism$vPeriodicals 606 $aPolitical science$zFormer communist countries$vPeriodicals 606 $aSociology$zFormer communist countries$vPeriodicals 606 $aInternational relations$vPeriodicals 606 $aPolitics and government$2fast$3(OCoLC)fst01919741 606 $aDiplomatic relations$2fast$3(OCoLC)fst01907412 606 $aInternational relations$2fast$3(OCoLC)fst00977053 606 $aPolitical science$2fast$3(OCoLC)fst01069781 606 $aPost-communism$2fast$3(OCoLC)fst01072730 606 $aSociology$2fast$3(OCoLC)fst01123875 607 $aFormer communist countries$xForeign relations$vPeriodicals 607 $aFormer communist countries$xPolitics and government$vPeriodicals 607 $aFormer communist countries$vPeriodicals 607 $aFormer communist countries$2fast 608 $aPeriodicals.$2fast 610 $aSocialism, Communism & Anarchism 615 0$aPost-communism 615 0$aPolitical science 615 0$aSociology 615 0$aInternational relations 615 7$aPolitics and government 615 7$aDiplomatic relations 615 7$aInternational relations. 615 7$aPolitical science. 615 7$aPost-communism. 615 7$aSociology. 712 02$aTallinna Ülikool.$bRiigiteaduste Instituut. 712 02$aRahvusvaheliste ja Sotsiaaluuringute Instituut (Tallinna Ülikool) 906 $aJOURNAL 912 $a996321485503316 996 $aStudies of transition states and societies$92039897 997 $aUNISA
