Although the various chapters address the history of different types of scripts (i.e. biblical majuscule, sloping poitend majuscule, liturgical majuscule, epigraphic and monumental scripts), their juxtaposition allows us to identify common issues of the comparative method of palaeography. From an overall critical assessment of these aspects the impossibility of applying a unique historical paradigm to interpret the formal expressions and the history of the different bookhands comes up, due to the fact that each script follows different paths. Particular attention is also devoted to the use of Greek majuscules in the writing of ancient Christian books. A modern and critical awareness of palaeographic method may help to place the individual witnesses in the context of the main graphic trends, in the social and cultural environments in which they developed, and in a more accurate chronological framework.?? 410 0$aStudies in Manuscript Cultures 606 $aMajuscule scripts 606 $adating of manuscripts 606 $apalaeography 606 $3(DE-601)10457187X$3(DE-588)4023287-6$aHandschrift$2gnd 606 $3(DE-601)104773928$3(DE-588)4168659-7$aMajuskel$2gnd 606 $3(DE-601)105494992$3(DE-588)4158186-6$aGriechische Schrift$2gnd 606 $3(DE-601)105777986$3(DE-588)4120227-2$aKoptisch$2gnd 606 $3(DE-601)105826847$3(DE-588)4113791-7$aGriechisch$2gnd 606 $3(DE-601)106204971$3(DE-588)4044571-9$aPapyrus$2gnd 606 $3(DE-601)684912740$3(DE-588)7854950-4$aKoptische Schrift$2gnd 606 $aLITERARY CRITICISM / General$2bisacsh 610 $aMajuscule scripts. 610 $adating of manuscripts. 610 $apalaeography. 615 4$aMajuscule scripts. 615 4$adating of manuscripts. 615 4$apalaeography. 615 7$aHandschrift 615 7$aMajuskel 615 7$aGriechische Schrift 615 7$aKoptisch 615 7$aGriechisch 615 7$aPapyrus 615 7$aKoptische Schrift 615 7$aLITERARY CRITICISM / General. 676 $a800 700 $aOrsini$b Pasquale , $0300866 801 0$bDE-B1597 801 1$bDE-B1597 906 $aBOOK 912 $a996309247703316 996 $aStudies on Greek and Coptic Majuscule Scripts and Books$91939002 997 $aUNISA
