But interest in trauma is not new; its roots extend to the Romantic period, when novelists and the first psychiatrists influenced each others' investigations of the »wounded mind«. This book looks back to these early attempts to understand trauma, reading a selection of Romantic novels in dialogue with Romantic and contemporary psychiatry. It then carries that dialogue forward to postmodern fiction, examining further how empirical approaches can deepen our theorizations of trauma. Within an interdisciplinary framework, this study reveals fresh insights into the poetics, politics, and ethics of trauma fiction. 410 0$aLettre (Transcript (Firm)) 606 $aEnglish literature 606 $aPsychic trauma in literature 606 $aChildren in literature 610 $aBritish Studies. 610 $aChildhood. 610 $aCultural Studies. 610 $aGeneral Literature Studies. 610 $aLiterary Studies. 610 $aLiterature. 610 $aNovel. 610 $aPostmodernism. 610 $aPsychoanalysis. 610 $aRomanticism. 615 0$aEnglish literature. 615 0$aPsychic trauma in literature. 615 0$aChildren in literature. 676 $a823.0093561 700 $aScho?nfelder$b Christa$0878942 712 02$aKnowledge Unlatched - KU Select 2016: Backlist Collection$4fnd$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/fnd 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a996308844603316 996 $aWounds and Words$91962633 997 $aUNISA
