More than any other particular line of inquiry, new historical and sociological approaches to the Axial Age revived the idea of comparative civilizational analysis and channeled it into more specific projects. A closer look at the very problematic place of Islam in this context will help to clarify questions about the Axial version of civilizational theory as well as issues in Islamic studies and sociological approaches to modern Islam. 615 0$aIslam. 615 0$aIslamic sociology. 676 $a306.697 700 $aArnason$b Johann P$4edt$0481951 702 $aStauth$b Georg 702 $aA?rnason$b Jo?hann Pa?ll$f1940- 702 $aSalvatore$b Armando 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a996308810803316 996 $aIslam in process$93396206 997 $aUNISA
