Solanaceae and Convolvulaceae are sisters represe- ing the two large families of this order. Their last common ancestor lived about 70 my ago (Durbin et al. 2000). The main objective of the author is to focus on aspects of our extensive knowledge of secondary metabolites in the plant kingdom in order to account for the specific competitiveness and productivity of these two large Solanales families. To this end, it has been necessary to take a bird?s-eye view of 200 years of phytochemical research on the Solanales, since first scientific reports with regard to both families were published in the early nineteenth century. Due to an almost complete lack of phytochemical reports (one single exception) on species of the three remaining, very small families of the order (see Chap. 2), they have not been considered. 1. 1. 2 General Role of the Secondary Metabolism for a Specific Characterization and Classification of Plant Taxa While traditional systematics generally focused on morphologic-anatomical char- ters of plants, in some cases chemotaxonomic aspects with regard to low molecular secondary metabolites were also considered. However, plant biochemistry and chemotaxonomy normally played a minor role in classification. 606 $aSolanaceae$vHandbooks, manuals, etc 606 $aConvolvulaceae$vHandbooks, manuals, etc 606 $aPlant metabolites$vHandbooks, manuals, etc 606 $aPlant bioactive compounds 606 $aPlant products$xSynthesis 606 $aTubiflorae 608 $aElectronic books. 615 0$aSolanaceae 615 0$aConvolvulaceae 615 0$aPlant metabolites 615 0$aPlant bioactive compounds. 615 0$aPlant products$xSynthesis. 615 0$aTubiflorae. 676 $a572.23952 676 $a660.6 700 $aEich$b Eckart$0998146 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910458652403321 996 $aSolanaceae and convolvulaceae - secondary metabolites$92289543 997 $aUNINA LEADER 02199nam 2200601 a 450 001 996248215703316 005 20221108074404.0 010 $a0-585-42009-2 024 7 $a2027/heb08622 035 $a(CKB)111056487037680 035 $a(dli)HEB08622 035 $a(SSID)ssj0000249093 035 $a(PQKBManifestationID)12076905 035 $a(PQKBTitleCode)TC0000249093 035 $a(PQKBWorkID)10204894 035 $a(PQKB)11174279 035 $a(MiU)MIU01000000000000009868454 035 $a(EXLCZ)99111056487037680 100 $a20000417d1999 uy 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aurmnummmmuuuu 181 $ctxt 182 $cc 183 $acr 200 10$aSoviet military intervention in Hungary, 1956 /$fedited by Jen?
