This study reconsiders Josephus' intellectual affiliation to his predecessors in the genre and argues that the work's classical complexion, and in particular its distinctive color Thucydideus , are integral to the intellectual and ideological design of BJ . Deployed typically at crucial points where Josephus deals with the motives of the Jewish insurgents, the classical elements directly subserve the work's apologetic and polemical tendencies, subtly predisposing the reader to a particular interpretation by applying the rationalist and psychological categories of 'scientific' Greek historiography. In this sense the classical form of BJ is interpreted in light of the historian's partisan political agenda. 410 0$aMnemosyne, bibliotheca classica Batava.$pSupplementum ;$v205. 606 $aJews$xHistory$yRebellion, 66-73$xHistoriography 615 0$aJews$xHistory$xHistoriography. 676 $a933/.007/202 700 $aMader$b Gottfried$0447407 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a996237248603316 996 $aJosephus and the politics of historiography$9100604 997 $aUNISA LEADER 03164nam 22006974a 450 001 9910973583803321 005 20251116150943.0 010 $a1-135-62448-8 010 $a1-135-62449-6 010 $a1-282-37498-2 010 $a9786612374982 010 $a1-4106-1051-9 024 7 $a10.4324/9781410610515 035 $a(CKB)1000000000031313 035 $a(EBL)234244 035 $a(OCoLC)475940817 035 $a(SSID)ssj0000205922 035 $a(PQKBManifestationID)11174691 035 $a(PQKBTitleCode)TC0000205922 035 $a(PQKBWorkID)10213100 035 $a(PQKB)10896455 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC234244 035 $a(Au-PeEL)EBL234244 035 $a(CaPaEBR)ebr10084632 035 $a(CaONFJC)MIL237498 035 $a(OCoLC)56066732 035 $a(EXLCZ)991000000000031313 100 $a20030811d2004 uy 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aur|n|---||||| 181 $ctxt 182 $cc 183 $acr 200 00$aMotivation, emotion, and cognition $eintegrative perspectives on intellectual functioning and development /$fedited by David Yun Dai, Robert J. To account for inter-individual, intra-individual, and developmental variability in actual intellectual performance, it is necessary to treat cognition, emotion, and motivation as inextricably related.
